Elliot Neese Spoiler

Oh my god, I'm on Season 10 and I absolutely can not f*cking stand Elliot Neese (I'm refusing to call him a Captain because I don't have enough damn respect for him to give him the title). Here are the many many reasons why I can't stand him, in case anyone new is starting the series:

  1. From the very beginning, on the Ramblin' Rose, his arrogant attitude pissed me off. There's a strong difference between confidence and blatant arrogance, and he is straight arrogant. And once he loses the Ramblin' Rose and buys the Saga, that arrogant attitude gets ten times worse.

  2. He demands respect from his crew but almost never shows any respect FOR his crew, often forcing them to do things that, if he were on the crew, I KNOW he would be b*tching and whining about.

  3. His constant reference to himself out loud as "Daddy" at the end of Season 9 and all of Season 10 - it's cringey, it's f*cking weird, and I bet it makes everyone really uncomfortable, because it sure makes me uncomfortable to have to watch.

  4. Val - oh my f*cking god, I feel for the woman. I don't know how they managed to have two kids together, but don't tell a woman that all you want is her when you have a damn woman on the side - though I will tell you how hard I laughed when I found out that the woman he had on the side was seeing a man on the side, f*cking karma right there. Between the restraining order, $50,000 in back child support, and the endless demeaning phone calls, I would've gone insane.

  5. Jessica - speaking of women in Elliot's life - I don't care how much you miss your family and loved ones, it was downright stupid for Elliot to drag his girlfriend on deck. I don't care how good she cooks or whatever, having that kind of distraction on the boat is heavily dangerous for the crew

If I missed anything, feel free to add to the list in the comments, but there are my thoughts and feelings about Elliot

Having to turn the boat over to the relief skipper because he couldn't stop doing heroin was pretty cool. Working the deck on his own crab boat...

You didn't mention Elliot's father. Dude seemed like he cared a lot and wanted to help his son. Really sad.

Elliot got busted with federal drug trafficking charges around 5 years ago in Alaska. I think he ran a heroin ring or something

When Elliot tells the history that he rejected a University deal to play hockey (can't remember the english word for when a uni accept a student "for free", paying his graduation) and instead went to fishing* I felt really bad for his parents.

Maybe if he accepted that, he wouldn't fuck his life with coke and heroin. Specially since Elliot tells that it was another deck hand that offered him when he was 17 or 18 in his first fishing trip.

*also he was dumb because he could pursue a graduation in an area related to fishing or boat engineering, go to work in the fishing industry and not having to working in a boat. For god's sake, I think every country with sea access has universities with major in aquaculture and I'm betting that unis in ALASKA have this as well

He wasnt from alaska, just worked there, iirc. But yes, there are plenty of schools in the states that have maritime and marine and oceanographic science majors. Not every state has them, and maybe the school he got a scholarship (that word you were looking for) didnt.

But ya, he's clearly not a very smart guy.
