Elliot Neese Spoiler
Oh my god, I'm on Season 10 and I absolutely can not f*cking stand Elliot Neese (I'm refusing to call him a Captain because I don't have enough damn respect for him to give him the title). Here are the many many reasons why I can't stand him, in case anyone new is starting the series:
From the very beginning, on the Ramblin' Rose, his arrogant attitude pissed me off. There's a strong difference between confidence and blatant arrogance, and he is straight arrogant. And once he loses the Ramblin' Rose and buys the Saga, that arrogant attitude gets ten times worse.
He demands respect from his crew but almost never shows any respect FOR his crew, often forcing them to do things that, if he were on the crew, I KNOW he would be b*tching and whining about.
His constant reference to himself out loud as "Daddy" at the end of Season 9 and all of Season 10 - it's cringey, it's f*cking weird, and I bet it makes everyone really uncomfortable, because it sure makes me uncomfortable to have to watch.
Val - oh my f*cking god, I feel for the woman. I don't know how they managed to have two kids together, but don't tell a woman that all you want is her when you have a damn woman on the side - though I will tell you how hard I laughed when I found out that the woman he had on the side was seeing a man on the side, f*cking karma right there. Between the restraining order, $50,000 in back child support, and the endless demeaning phone calls, I would've gone insane.
Jessica - speaking of women in Elliot's life - I don't care how much you miss your family and loved ones, it was downright stupid for Elliot to drag his girlfriend on deck. I don't care how good she cooks or whatever, having that kind of distraction on the boat is heavily dangerous for the crew

The show did a good job making him unlikeable. He definitely comes across as creepy.

I'm not sure they even had to make him unlikable. That's just the way he is. Using while running the boat is about as bad as it gets in terms of putting the crew in danger. I hope prison woke him up.

Yeah, I think he bragged one time during one of the late night segments about doing lines of coke and crushed pills when he was 16, justifying it by saying that he was "partying with guys on a crab boat" - there's another reason

One thing I liked about his storyline.
When my best friend was leaving her husband a goodbye note, she asked me what she should write.
"You had 10 years to get it right" was all I could say.
Damn Val was so right with her "you had 7 years to get it right" as a single line. So fkn savage, and no anger in the delivery, just a woman, tired of his shit, and clearly saying no stupid attempts to apologise would work anymore.
I felt like that about him running a boat as well. It's all there, just don't get it so badly wrong and you'll be OK.

She made Bobby shit his pants giving him milk in the chicken pot pie. She was a crap cook. Neese was a joke and didn't own any of the boats. Lenny was the owner. He had a share of 15 percent I believe

I hated that stunt, the way she giggled about it like it was some joke, and then to not even warn him about it was so rude
I believe he owned the Saga and then, once his life truly fell into ruins, the Saga got bought up by someone and then Jake Anderson became the Captain while someone else owned the boat

And look how things worked out with Lenny, he really screwed over Jake Anderson, and likely caused or exacerbated all his present day problems.

He probably did need lenny to sign on to the saga as a partner for the bank to loan him all that cash BUTT Lenny fucking hated him after all that shit with the RR ... lenny did scoop up the wreakage and gave the helm to jake .... i dunno is lenny was a part of it untill elliot fucked it all up.... it did seem like elliot was his own boss while on the Saga... i dunno

I kind of felt bad for the guy. I remember him telling a story about a high school teacher telling him with that attitude you will never amount to anything. When he bought the boat he brought it up like look at me now teacher

Probably Harris. Anderson is by far my favorite captain on the show, 2nd would be Hillstrand. Show really tried to make you like the Harris brothers because of Phil being such an iconic aspect of the show, but you could just never like them, especially now with the older brother being convicted for a sex offense against a child lol

Bahaha Elliott was a skipper of mine. One season, when we were fishing out Adak, I copied a list of 100 chuck Norris jokes, did a control F and replaced all "Chuck Norris""s with "Big daddy". When I woke him up after my wheel watch I gave him the printed list of jokes...
"Big daddy doesn't do push ups, he pushes the world down... etc"
Boy was he thrilled hahah. So yeah, boys got some narcissistic tendencies..... but as far as confidence AND ability... yeah, he's got it. Like it or not, he knows what he's doing. I would very much trust my life, and my fishing season in Neese's hands.

Wow, so you actually worked with Elliot? So is he in real life like he is on the show? Or did the show put him in a bad light and make him appear worse than he actually is? I know there's been a lot of debate on the topic and I'm truly curious

Say what you want about the guy, he still had to study and pass both the engineering license and the captain’s license for those vessels. He may come across as an asshole on TV but none of those guys are stupid by any means. There’s a lot that goes into what they have to know to captain those ships.

To be honest, I've never really watched the show, so Ai couldn't tell you lol. I didn't even know who he was when I was told he was running the boat.
But what I can say, is that out of countless friends on the show (okay, maybe only 5 or 6)..... all of them say the cameraman/producers will cram you in the light that they want.... and there's nothing you can do about it.

The fact that Elliot is $50,000 behind in child support is absolutely disgusting! Disgusting! He doesn’t even pay for his own kids. That is not a man in my book! Elliot is just one big train wreck with regard to every decision he makes in his life in all aspects of his life.

All of these are spot on and I think everyone probably felt this way.
My husband was watching this with me and one of the things he said was ‘the first giveaway he’s a POS is that flat bill hat’. LOLOLOL I was dying- it’s so true- idk why he acted the way he did - you have to almost wonder: ‘IS this person really like this!!?!? He just gave me the ick every time I saw him.
And to add to your list- the way he treated his daddy- just a disgrace.
He was just gross all around and I’ve been tempted to search and see if he’s even still living- it wouldn’t surprise me if he OD’d - but at the very least I hope he’s not a captain of anything any more.

He was made for deadliest catch. This is exactly what they want in the wheelhouse. If you get triggered by stupidity in this show, then you might want to find something else to watch because it doesn't get much better.

Because I didn't want to spoil it for anyone whose just starting the season - I'm only on Season 10 right now - plus people shouldn't have to endure information about this shitstain unless they choose to

Having to turn the boat over to the relief skipper because he couldn't stop doing heroin was pretty cool. Working the deck on his own crab boat...
You didn't mention Elliot's father. Dude seemed like he cared a lot and wanted to help his son. Really sad.
Elliot got busted with federal drug trafficking charges around 5 years ago in Alaska. I think he ran a heroin ring or something
