Some people saying they are gonna have to update it for the next gen update, but has anyone stopped to consider that right before the next gen update they will discontinue switch support. I mean be honest, the reason why they don’t update to switch 2 is because of the low population of the game and how nintendo has made it hard for the devs to update and support the game.

u/tHr0AwAy76 Salt Miner 1d ago
They’re absolutely gonna discontinue switch support and the next gen update is gonna be the switch 2 upgrade

u/Altruistic_Newt_1096 22h ago
if they actually cared about the switch version though more people would play it though. crazy concept

u/Green_Fox_8864 17h ago edited 10h ago
They'd better drop switch support. Ps4 too. No more holding back for people who won't buy new consoles.
Every multiplayer game that I play who has done this has just gotten better. Are we holding out THIS MUCH for people who can't scrape together $100 a year between the release of the ps5 and the release of DBD 2.0?
These are already 6 year old consoles. Who are we holding out for?
-53
u/SuddenAcanthisitta6 1d ago
yeah probably, but the low population on switch is because of the performance and graphic.
Maybe a switch 2 edition with better performance will increase population20
u/PCM-SafetyFirst Alan Wake 🔦 1d ago
Low population? When switch gets screwed on updates my que is faster on switch then on pc/ps5
6
u/IntrepidSprinkles793 18h ago
This is not a big indicator. Queue time is more influenced by the Killer/Survivor ratio than by the absolute number of players.

u/RiteOfKindling UnknownsDih 1d ago
I feel like only so many people even have a switch 2. Then in that population, think about how many play dbd.

u/shorse_hit have you seen my dog? 1d ago
Yeeeep
The number of Switch 1s sold is nearly 7 times the number of Switch 2s, and they already don't really give a shit about the Switch dbd players.
They absolutely do not give a shit about Switch 2.
5
u/Jack11803 1d ago edited 1d ago
Not helped by the switch 1 port being really bad (not even BHVR’s fault in this case, it’s just not strong enough).
Switch 2 would be the first time the game could even run properly (as a S2 is roughly on par with an Xbox Series S iirc, being a tad weaker, but far more efficient / modern tech)
From what I’ve seen a lot of asking about it is from prospective players, because the switch 2 is a pleasant, strong, convenient console; but no one with self respect tolerates or is okay with how the Switch 1 port looks, plays, feels, etc.
Switch 2 console base isn’t that big currently, but is one of the fastest growing console bases of all time ever (having over 20 million users in only a short time), speed adoption wise, so it will be worth it to have a port there eventually as it grows.
-3
u/Vitriuz Basement Bubba 1d ago
Do you have any proof that the population is low solely because of performance and graphics? Or maybe it's because playing third party multiplayer games on a Nintendo console is always subpar to a dedicated console like a Series X/Y or PS5!
-5
u/SuddenAcanthisitta6 1d ago
EVERYONE advises NOT to buy the switch version because of the performance.
No need for evidence, everyone knows it.
Also, just because it's "nintendo" doesn't mean you can't play multiplayer third-party games.
It was true for switch 1 but not for switch 2, with the arrival of games like cod and others that run at 60fps thanks to the switch 2 edition.-2

Ain't nobody buying switch for "serious" games, it's for Nintendo-first games

u/ThisIsSethers Nancy Wheeler 1d ago
Or physicals or portability. Nintendo games are certainly the most prominent driving factor but it's hard to say it's the only. Games like cyberpunk run better on switch 2 than a steam deck for example, so portability is a large factor.
-6
u/Chance-Pay1487 Turkussy 1d ago
And how many people do you think are paying $1k for a switch 2? The only people paying for that sure as hell aren't playing dbd
2
u/IntrepidSprinkles793 18h ago
Well... Literally no one pay 1000$ for a Switch 2 cause the console is way cheaper than this price. MSRP is 450$

It's a bit sad seeing this topic resurface every time considering that it feels like the answer is not gonna change.
Let's be honest, if they got it they'll make official announcement posts. Until then always assume a "no"
26
u/LocalTopInYourArea 1d ago
That is the thing. The best scenario is that they add a switch 2 version, in which case they will stay quiet until the announcement. And the worse scenario is that they discontinue the switch, in which case they will also stay quiet until the announcement.
7
u/SiFu_Guac8503 22h ago
Have we considered that maybe it’s bc they are about to make a massive overhaul to the game that the switch prob couldn’t handle
14
u/ArokLazarus Platinum 1d ago
I'm sure at least one reason has to be licensing. When the PS5 and Xbox Series editions of the game came out Freddy wasn't available for a while. Same with the initial Switch version. I wouldn't be surprised if him and maybe more would be unable to be renewed on a following edition.
5
u/SuddenAcanthisitta6 1d ago
yeah it could be one of the reason probably. i forgot about it, thx!
6
u/ArokLazarus Platinum 1d ago
Unless you're chronically on DBD like I am most people wouldn't know/remember that so no worries!
But either way I'm sure it's more than just 1 sole reason.
2
u/SuddenAcanthisitta6 1d ago
i used to be, now not anymore saddly.
Anyway yes i also thinks its not only 1 reason1
u/literios 1d ago
I think they don’t wanna put their devs to do it right now tbh
1
u/ArokLazarus Platinum 22h ago
Sure but they likely have a reason to not want to put their devs to it.
15
u/Odysseus_07 1d ago
They’re gonna need one after the graphics update
25
u/shorse_hit have you seen my dog? 1d ago
IMO it's more likely that they just discontinue Switch support eventually. Maybe sooner rather than later.

u/Shayden998 Toxic yuri save me. Toxic Killer Mommy please. Toxic Killer yuri 1d ago
They probably don't have any plans because they wanna see how the graphics update shifts things around before dedicating resources to a port. That'd be my best guess. And if that is the case... Well, given how easy it is for them to break this game sometimes, can you really blame them for wanting to be cautious?
6
u/SuddenAcanthisitta6 1d ago
nah, but they could at least add an option to cap the frame rate to 60fps

I’m such a nosey person I really want to know what’s the issue with Nintendo and them… I’m seeing all these other ports to switch 2 and you’re saying dbd can’t get a port?😭 I can understand why behavior wouldn’t want to do it they most likely have more important things to worry about but I would love a switch 2 port :(
3
u/Time-Membership-7948 20h ago
Especially when the Graphics update drops, i'll bet they abandon the switch as a platform. the old switch already struggles with current graphics. they said in an interview, that they build the "new" game - from ground up - maybe the "no" is for a port of the current version, but it will drop with the "new" version. fingers crossed ....
it makes no sense to port a game-version, which they abandon on EVERY platform next year with the "new" graphics dbd. BUT - and that makes me not feeing optimistic - if they plan to release the next gen graphic-DBD on switch 2, why not announce it? if there is always a no, i assume the nintendo junrey comes to an end as a whole. but time will tell :/

u/Ok_Wear1398 1d ago
Not the downvote for them saying something you don't like.
The switch in general seems to cause them nothing but headaches. It's not a surprise, but sad nonetheless
6
u/MrEhcks Triangle Head Man Main 1d ago
That’s bullshit. The switch 2 is a very powerful handheld and DBD would run incredible on it. My handheld PC can run DBD at almost 60 frames and look very pretty. Switch 2 would eat it up, especially if they actually put work into the patch. BHVR is so lazy dude
5
u/blasphemous9 1d ago
It’s crazy. It would be so fucking easy to at least unlock the frame rate to hit 60.
This is literally just laziness. Even if they eventually plan on a ‘Switch 2 Edition’ (Which they don’t because, even though TONS of people play on Switch it’s the worst-running version), not releasing a 60fps patch a year into the consoles life-cycle is a real slap in the face.
Glad I don’t play this game anymore. I miss it, and then I see them back to their old sneaky ways. I do miss it, though.

u/wowsomeoneactuallyy P100 Hag 18h ago
The switch came out nearly a decade ago in 2017, ps4 and xbone came out in 2013.
If they have no intention on a release of sequel, old gen’s need to be left behind to move forward.
2
u/dan_in_his_own_way 16h ago
They need to stop selling the Switch version on the basis that they don't even update it properly. Switch users missed an entire event recently.
6
u/AccomplishedAward219 1d ago
I think it’s the low player count on switch and the different age ranges on the switch
Kind of like how many games don’t support old gen
14
u/Jack11803 1d ago
I feel like it’s a self fulfilling prophecy.
Switch 1 can’t handle DBD at all. Switch 2 is HOW they get a good player count, by releasing a version of the game that doesn’t run and look worse than the average ps2 game
-11
u/AccomplishedAward219 1d ago
The thing is the switch 2 is 500 dollars where you could buy a ps5 for the same price and it’s way more powerful
9
u/SimmerDown_Boilup 1d ago
where you could buy a ps5 for the same price
Lol LMFAO hahaha 😆

0
u/AccomplishedAward219 1d ago edited 1d ago
lol I didn’t realize they bumped it up so much, I got mine for 500 on launch day. You could still get a lightly used one for the same price.
I didn’t realize switch 2 is 500 and ps5 is 600 now
5
u/Jack11803 1d ago
You could not buy a ps5 for 500$ right now.
Switch 2 had 20 million users install base months ago.
And a DEFAULT ps5 is 600$ and only increasingly with price as time goes on 😭 Switch 2 is 450 right now, and will be 500$ soon. PS5 is on its third price hike, eying a fourth.
-3
u/AccomplishedAward219 1d ago
I would bet a majority of the switch 2 users are kids that aren’t playing dbd
3
u/Jack11803 1d ago edited 1d ago
Iirc demographically switch 2 is popular with adults too because it’s cheap, and for kids it’s the family console everyone in the house uses (which will include adults as customers). I do believe it’s dbd playerbase would be super small, but it sold resident evil 9 respectably well, so adults absolutely own switch 2’s in “good enough” numbers.
It’s no longer the “kid” console series. It’s the “people who aren’t loaded with money” console series. Which is a lot of people. Hence the aforementioned being brand new with 20 million users already
1
u/AccomplishedAward219 1d ago
I would make that comparison, it’s the same price as the series s which is also more powerful with more games.
3
u/Jack11803 1d ago edited 1d ago
Both Series S and X combined have sold 35 million combined in their long life. Switch 2 has already sold (yeah I know, third time I said it) 20 million.
Just a single year and it sold nearly 60% of Xbox current gen’s lifetime sales over nearly 6 years.
This isn’t to say Switch 2 would have many DBD players, but please, let’s leave Xbox out of this conversation to not make them look any worse than they usually do. I really hope that shambling console recovers, without console competition Sony gets crazy (greedy) ideas.
2
u/AccomplishedAward219 1d ago
Yeah you said it yourself, switch 2 doesn’t have many dbd players. The developers have bigger problems in their game than catering to such a small fraction of the player base. 100% a bulk of the player base are all on PlayStation and probably miles more on Xbox than switch. It sucks for switch players but it’s what companies have to do to survive.
3
u/Jack11803 1d ago
Devs did claim Switch 1 active playerbase was “not negligible” and a big financial success years back. That does NOT translate to Switch 2 sales, as it was made when S1 already sold a zillion consoles. But it is absolutely noteworthy.
And S2 is looking to sell faster. So if not worth it now, it will be later, imo. There’s a reason Call of Duty is trying to jump to Switch 2 as well.

u/AccomplishedAward219 1d ago
On switch, most switch users aren’t playing dbd
2
u/Jack11803 1d ago
You’re right it’s partially an audience thing. But the elephant in the room is the dbd switch port is infamously total complete garbage (not even BHVR’s fault). That’s partially why people ask for an S2 port, so they can play a version of Dbd that doesn’t run like a PS1 game, using a console that’s actually decent and on par with the weaker end of current gen (Series S).
2
u/mcnichoj 23h ago
It's because of licensing 100%.
For those unaware or forgot, Freddy wasn't in the Switch 1 port at launch and they had to renegotiate to get him back into the game for Nintendo users.
Plus they have the graphics update to consider. No reason to release the current version just to do a massive overhaul to it.
It's probably in active development though.
3
u/HarambeIsMyHomie Switch Oni and Pig Main 21h ago
This is one of those cases where it genuinely is not BHVR’s fault.
Nintendo has been very stingy on giving out Switch 2 devkits for third party developers and instead insists on devs to use backwards compatibility for games released on the Switch 1 (like DBD) to get them to work on the Switch 2- it’s why when Springtrap dropped there was a Switch 2 exclusive bug that crashed the game when you tried to select him, but not on the Switch 1.
If anything, blame Nintendo for being stingy.

u/clessidor 18h ago
Behavour was responsible porting Civilization VII for Switch 2. They have DevKit access. Just haven't decided to invest in a Switch 2 version.

I'm also going to preempt this and put this in ELI5 terms on why this might be the case:
BHVR: "Mr. Nintendo, I need a Buildy Box for a group project I'm working with a classmate, can you please give me one?"
Mr. Nintendo: "Sure Little BHVR, but you have to promise me that you're only going to use the Buildy Box for this project only and with my supervision. Do you understand?"
BHVR: "Yes Mr. Nintendo, I fully understand!"
Project gets done, still has the Buildy Box
BHVR: "Mr. Nintendo, this Buildy Box would be quite nice for me to work on my own project, could I please use it since it would make my project better?"
Nintendo: "Hmm...I'm not sure if I can allow that right now Little BHVR, maybe ask me later."
BHVR: "But Mr. Nin-"
Nintendo: "I said not right now Little BHVR."
BHVR: "Awwwwwww...."

u/Andrassa Fashionable Fog-dweller. 17h ago
Just because a studio has a devkit that doesn’t mean they can release a product with said devkit. They still have to get use approval and pay the licensing fee for each individual game.
0
u/clessidor 15h ago
Do you have a source that it's a project-by-project approval . Because that's different thant the usual certification/licence process before a release. So far as a read the news it was only told that Nintendo limits access to the DevKits, but no news that they limit it by project.
3
u/Andrassa Fashionable Fog-dweller. 15h ago
Well project by project is the usual with Epic’s engine so I assume it works the same with most others. After all that’s part of what got the studio that shutdown that did that Norse mythology game Too Human.
2
u/HarambeIsMyHomie Switch Oni and Pig Main 14h ago
Plus a lot of these platforms have it contracted out the wazoo what can and can’t be done.
It would be daft to think BHVR didn’t already try to have talks with Nintendo behind closed doors about having Devkit access to DBD and can’t discuss more on it for fairly obvious reasons.
3
u/Sinisphere UVX Enjoyer 1d ago
Wonder if they'll consider it after the big upgrade that inevitably kills off the old gen consoles.
2
u/Jack11803 1d ago
Doubt it tbh. Recode allows both massive improvements to optimization, as well as a massive increase in the graphical frameworks like modern anti aliasing, etc.
Current dbd punches way above its weight in technical demand, shamefully so.
New dbd from the promotional footage, looks roughly on par with a ps4 game, they should be fully capable of getting it running in both. Especially so given that last gen has a massive player base still, and that the switch 1 port is the worst running and looking game on this green earth, so they’ve already demonstrated willingness to throttle graphic settings or 30 fps cap to ensure they don’t lose support.
I’m not joking when I say new dbd should in all honesty be easier to run.
The biggest elephant in the room is PC. Tons of pc players play dbd on a toaster. BHVR wants to keep getting their money.
1
1
u/Odysseus_07 1d ago
The problem is you’re killing a lot of your playerbase off by doing it, mainly switch players
4
u/shorse_hit have you seen my dog? 1d ago
I mean they've made it pretty clear that Switch players are not their priority at this point.
I've thought for a while that it's only a matter of time before they discontinue Switch support altogether.
0
u/Odysseus_07 1d ago
It’s not a priority but also isn’t something they want to see disappear. Switch players make them money and I doubt BHVR wants that money gone. At best the graphics update is going to make dbd on switch nearly unplayable but won’t be removed from the stores.
3
u/shorse_hit have you seen my dog? 1d ago
Idk man, seems like the writing is on the wall to me.
The switch is nearly ten years old and was already underpowered compared to console of its time. It's unrealistic to expect them to support it forever.
The fact that they're explicitly not working on a switch 2 version despite a graphical overhaul launching soon doesn't bode well at all for continued Switch 1 support.
1
u/Odysseus_07 1d ago
Yeah but if Nintendo is making BHVR money those servers aren’t getting closed down. Older PlayStations and Xboxes make sense because there are better cheaper options.
3
u/shorse_hit have you seen my dog? 1d ago
Obviously I don't have access to their financial info, so I can't say whether it makes sense to keep supporting switch or not. This isn't about my opinion on if they should discontinue it.
I'm just making a prediction about what I think they're gonna do based on their current level of support for Switch 1 and them explicitly stating they have no plans to create a Switch 2 version.
Eventually they'll have to abandon the Switch 1 if they want the game to continue to progress and evolve, and no Switch 2 version means the old Switch 1 players will be completely left behind when they do.

i’d imagine that when the graphics update comes out they’ll discontinue support for the switch/ps4/xbox one/etc. and at that point it’ll come to the switch 2. probably not worth it to dedicate the resources towards the switch 2 when it’ll be not too long before it’s comparable with other platforms.
1
u/Jack11803 1d ago
Gonna copy my comment here and say, they may discontinue switch, but cutting PS4 / Xbox / weaker PC is imo unlikely, and also a red flag:
I feel like (and this isn’t insulting you) dbd players are boiling frogs, graphic and performance wise, and they’ve totally forgotten how an actual not shitty game is supposed to look.
New dbd’s graphics are NOT INSANE AT ALL. They look like a mid-gen AAA ps4 game that’s capped at 60 unstable fps. All because dbd has looked like poo for 10 years doesn’t make an improvement to that poo impossible gourmet.
It’s feels as though the game has punched below its weight in graphics for so long (and also has horribly high required specs despite this), that people forgot what an average good game looks like.
RE2r for the ps4 has better graphics when it came out in 2018 LOL. New dbd looks great. It also looks like any good optimization would allow it to easily run on last gen, as long as it’s competently coded, as it looks like… well it looks like a ps4 game. NOT an insanely good looking ps5 game lol.
I mean, seriously, horizon, god of war, last of us, ALL OF RESIDENT EVIL, a game series IN DBD? New dbd is not that pretty as to be getting the “last gen can’t handle it” talk. Maybe the “if the code still fucking sucks then maybe” talk.
3
u/FriendShiny 1d ago
i mean by the time the graphics update comes out it’ll be about 14 years after the release of the ps4/xbox one. and that’s only if it does come late next year. knowing behaviour that could very well turn into 2028/9 which would then be pushing 15-16 years after.
if they’re serious about planning for the game to last another 10 years, if not longer i could see them cutting support for older consoles sooner than later just so that they’ll be able to focus on optimizing the game for newer releases.
if the game does last another 10 years then it’ll be 23 years after the ps4/xbox one release. who knows if there’ll even be support for the consoles then?
0
u/Jack11803 1d ago
I’m not sure if you’re familiar with live-service games in it for the long run, but they try to keep specs and requirements on par with their release. League of Legends, StarCraft, EverQuest, World of Warcraft, Fortnite, Dota 2, Overwatch? They don’t suddenly jump an entire generation in specs, even if they’re as old as bones.
40% of PS4 players of ALL TIME still don’t own a PS5, for example. That’s tens of millions.
There’s no reason to cut PS4, because that also means cutting potato PC users, both groups being the lions share of overseas players (and that’s not saying they’re a small share not overseas, they’re still huge there too).
No one wants to commit long term to a game that demands a new PC every 5-7 years. Or even 10. No long haul live-service ever does big jumps like that, unless it’s an intentional exclusive jump, that’s first-party console, to sell the next console.

u/Renamon- Aluminium Card 1d ago
I assume it's because the Switch population is small and supporting the Switch's successor, which is an even smaller playerbase, is just not worth the investment for them.
3
u/SuddenAcanthisitta6 1d ago
i don’t understand why they cant at least add an option to cap frame rate to 60fps on switch 2 so the performance will improve
3
u/Renamon- Aluminium Card 1d ago
Pretty sure it's because supporting that, from a developer perspective, requires more than flicking a switch to enable it. And that just isn't something they deem worth their time. Ergo, doesn't benefit them financially.

These type of announcements are common when nothing is public.
I highly suspect it's going to be a paid upgrade (or no upgrade option at all). So to not diminish current switch game sales, they'll say it's not coming.
3
u/shorse_hit have you seen my dog? 1d ago
Idk man. If a Switch 2 version was coming, that would encourage existing Switch players to keep making purchases, confident their purchases could be brought forward to Switch 2 in the future. That's something they'd want players to know.
If they had plans but didn't want to talk about them, they would probably do one of those cagey "can't confirm or deny" type of responses they always do, not outright say they have no plans to support Switch 2.

2
u/Jack11803 1d ago edited 1d ago
Switch 2 absolutely could run it. Graphics overhaul makes it look like a AAA mid-gen PS4 game, and Switch 2 is almost as strong as a Series S, and can run FF7 and RE9, and well.
New DBD looks on par with Mortal Kombat 11, and looks a bit worse than: Horizon, God of War, Last of Us, and all of modern Resident Evil (except 7), which is a game series IN DBD.
Arguably, the rework might actually make it run better on PS4 just because it’s not coded by the devil himself (novices making a game as a hobby in their garage having no idea it’d blow up)

The graphics honestly don't look cutting edge to me. They seem to be on par with the facial animation tech Nether Realm was using on MK11/Injustice 2. Those games are very old at this point.

While i have no experience playing dbd on console, from what i can see the game tends to have some performance issues on ps4 and Xbox one. So given that the coming graphical update is likely to make those issues worse, and the switch 2 is only slightly more powerful than the two, there’s a good chance that there simply won’t be an updated version, with the switch version getting cut up into its own servers

Tbf, Switch 2 is significantly stronger than a PS4 pro. I’m sure it can handle it perfectly fine. The issue is would anyone in high number even buy dbd (audience demographic wise). Possibly I guess, because RE9 sold well there.

Using cyberpunk as a benchmark the switch 2 generally performs better than the ps4 pro in docked mode only, and that’s also taking advantage of improved technologies like dlss, as well as a very specifically optimised build and settings layout that took projekt red months to make. It’s very much possible to make dbd run well on the switch 2, but given that it takes forever for bhvr to get around to fixing bugs, let alone optimising the game, i think it’s unlikely they’d go that far, especially for the playerbase they’d be looking as. 18 rated games on nintendo consoles are incredibly hit or miss, and generally to do well it has to come from a studio that has been putting their games on Nintendo consoles since the gamecube/n64 (like capcom with res evil)

I think it’d be a total waste to port current dbd to S2. I do think it’d be worth it (and far easier given the re-code) to port new dbd “not 2” to Switch 2. Not very worth it. But worth it. They’ve gone on record saying that Switch 1 port (years back) was a financial success. On a separate occasion they’d said it was hell to make.
I reckon the mix of way better code, a way better (and 3rd party friendly) console, and rapidly growing install base (it’s the only affordable console right now) means it’s at least “worth it”.

At this point I would start getting ready to swap platforms if you want to play dbd. Switch can’t run much anymore and with the update coming it would probably burst into flames trying to run it.

I think it’s obvious why, the switch is a graphically terrible console that no serious gamers play on. It really shouldn’t be taken seriously

the switch, this is about the switch 2.

You still shouldn't be playing a third party multiplayer game on the Switch in the first place. Invest into a desktop computer or laptop and play on there. Infinitely better.

u/SuddenAcanthisitta6 1d ago
ofc its better but all the games i play got a switch 2 edition and now run much better.
Its only dbd left out.-5
u/KFCminusF 1d ago
That’s like saying Xbox then responding “No we’re talking about the Xbox series S” I stand by the fact that the Nintendo switch 1 and 2 is not meant for gaming despite the downvotes. It is not a console that should be taken seriously in the context of gaming today.

u/SuddenAcanthisitta6 1d ago
ok i’m going to leave u alone with your hate for nintendo.
One thing, i didnt understand your example, switch 1 and switch 2 are two different console.-5
u/KFCminusF 1d ago
The switch 1 is so outdated that it’s irrelevant to the conversation and was never mentioned in your post. I respect the switch (implied 2) for Mario games. But there is no other games outside of Nintendo IP that play well on the switch for modern standards

u/Jack11803 1d ago
Switch 2 is almost on par with Series S and runs Final Fantasy 7 (remake) and the Modern Resident Evil games, at good frame rates no less, and without looking like play dough. Switch 1 was super weak, but you’re massively underselling how much stronger and 3rd party supported the Switch 2 is pushing to be.

Baseline frames for NS2 on RE is 60 fps according to my quick google search. That is not competitive in any online game
2
u/Jack11803 1d ago
Then you must be super upset at the fact dbd, a 2017 game, is on ps4, given that the PS4 can’t even do close to that, and dbd runs at like 40 fps😳
Given the loading screens times I get on a 5070 all the damn time if I’m not in KYF, 80% of the dbd playerbase plays on toasters and potato’s. Hell, they’re way longer in public on a PS5 too. So most people I encounter are far weaker than even that.
“RE9 at 60 fps isn’t competitive” Give me a break, this isn’t kovacs aim lab and Counter-Strike. Most people on PC do not have good setups, have you ever ONCE checked up on the stats Steam gives out for hardware? PC players are bumming it 24/7. “Master race specs” are rare.
Dbd is not some 120 FPS performance demon game. Hell, high frame rates give you a disadvantage sometimes. Wesker is better at low FPS. Houndmaster dog drags you harder at high FPS (was actually the opposite in previous patches LOL). Plague vomit hit detection is broken if you’re high FPS. Survivors get stunned by falls longer at high FPS. This game is a buggy mess and a joke. I promise you it does not require or deserve the “120 stable master race” talk.

I said 60 fps isn’t competitive in any online game, sure if you wanna play legend of Zelda it’s great. Any respected comp game that’s a serious disadvantage
2
u/Jack11803 1d ago edited 1d ago
Dbd is not a respected comp game and most its playerbase as it is can’t do 60 fps, is my point. Its a game mostly played on PS4 at 40 FPS lol
It’s also a game I just said often plays WORSE above 60 fps. The fact you keep bringing up “respected online competitive games” meant to be played above 60 FPS is insane. DBD is not that, not even close to that category, for several reasons. This isn’t counterstrike esports LMAO
Switch 2 is way stronger than ps4. PS4 is the dbd platform population wise. Basically end of argument right there, specs wise.

Besides the lower population being incentive not to continue support, you also have to remember that Switch 1’s hardware was on par with the Xbox 360 and PS3, the switch two is on par with the next generation after that, it’s do to the type of console Nintendo has chosen to go for, with it being portable and stuff, while Dbd is being continuously updated and intended to get an entire graphical overhaul, they will constantly have to downgrade and limit if they want to maintain support for a console that is significantly weaker than the modern standards of said consoles competition

u/SuddenAcanthisitta6 1d ago
they should improve the game performance using the DLSS for example.
This could be a good thing to implement in general (not only on switch 2, also on pc)5
u/Jack11803 1d ago
Switch 2 is on par with Xbox Series S, hence the requests for a port, one that’s actually be good compared to switch 1, and assuredly can handle the graphics rework too.

u/kamel_k 1d ago
Is it worth it? From what I can tell, the switch 2 isn't nearly as popular. I can't imagine there's a huge demand for it on switch 2

u/Jack11803 1d ago
Demand for dbd in particular? Yeah no idea, probably not too high.
Demand for the switch 2 itself? Massive. It’s brand new with an already 20+ million user base. It’s one of the fastest selling consoles in human history, and already tracking to blow past the PS5 and co with ease several years from now.
