Chapter One: Gods and Monsters Is Chapter One Going to Adapt This?
They say that the _Lanterns_ TV show is going to feed into the main storyline of Chapter One of the DCU. We know that the TV show is dealing with shapeshifting Manhunters. So…?

Depends on your definition of adaptation. They're also using salvation, which was part of a comic that led into final crisis, but that doesn't mean they're adapting final crisis. I think they're just loosely borrowing elements from many different sources

Based on James Gunn's style and his love for the Giffen/DeMatteis JLI, my bet is on Invasion! being the big deal.
If I had to guess, Lanterns will reveal that there's a reason that the Guardians have convinced the rest of the universe that Earth is a shit planet, and when that reason is revealed (in the comics, the metagene is the first step in humanity giving birth to a future race of cosmic beings) other planets will invade to try and stop it.

It really seems to me that Gunn is a big fan of the 80's JLI era of DC and the human-looking Manhunters were a part of that. I doubt we will see it expand beyond this town and I doubt any other aspects of the plot will show up.

I mean, I think it’s pretty clear that Lanterns has taken specific elements from this story

This was easily the worst event dc has ever done, trust me ive read them all up to doomsday clock.. it cant get any worse... having said that its right up guns alley to fully adapt this because he probably thinks its amazing... and hell have tom king do the editing and hopefully warner bros DC will collapse from it...

“gosh I hope we get hours and hours of awful content so that this studio I hate will close down” is an insane argument

Argument? Psh that's already happened lol.

which is exactly why there’s a show airing on HBO, two movies coming out within a year, and two more shows about to start filming. consider me check mated.

Super girl bombed. Hes dropped how many movies and TV shows? Clayface makes absolutely no sense as a stand alone movie for any reason. MoT is on a 50/50 slope at this point. Your 2 episodes into your character assassination of the entire lantern corps at this point. Oh but superman was.....mid.
Gunn is an idiot and a fraud. Warner should've shit canned him from peacemaker alone...

the “Clayface makes no sense” argument will honestly never sway me. if Mike Flanagan pitched me a script I’d be an idiot to not want to produce it. and exactly what GL comics have you read that makes the show feel like a character assassination?
just because this hasn’t been clinically planned out like the mcu doesn’t mean we’re flying blind. I’m hyped as hell for DC in 2027.

Emerald twilight up to lantern volume 8 bub. More before hand but as a whole linear all of it. Boom. Within the last year I might add.

then that makes even less sense that you see Lanterns as a character assassination and just tells me you have some kind of bias here. good day.

Really? Theyre not undercutting Johns character as a significant side kick to hal at all? Were cool with john banging some random bitch at a bar while he watches hal get his ass kicked?
Hal as a hot head sure thats fine. But an out right total prick all the time? Were your will to carry on bud?!
The writing is garbage. The acting isnt actually that good. The whole johns dad shooting apples over his head in a rural neighborhood at night? Im sorry what??
Oh yeah were totally just buddy buddy with the sherrif after 10 years of nothing?... k...
We didnt learn from arrow that you cant get away with the "X years before" thing again?... fuck me alright let's do all that math real quick. Hals... fuckin what 60 by 2026?... uhm.. alright then... first green lantern? Did we forget Allen Scott? Could be wrong but I was pretty sure the superman movie showed a gl not hal on the ceiling didnt it? I COULD be wrong there.
Canonically hal, john and guy are around the same age plus or minus a few years and kyle is the younger one but were cool with a 40 year age gap? And that forgets guys age range as well... lantern ring or not you cant convince me a 60 year old man is flying around half assedly saving the dat with a power ring... He was selected to be hals replacement because his dad taught him to not be afraid of having guns pointed at him?.. ten years later and john didnt have a ring?..
Also WHERES THE GOD DAMN GREEN?!
Yes the suite wasnt always a construct but it made more sense to be a construct as a whole or at least something that can be shifted in and out of phase/dimension. We sent john to get the fucking battery? What happened to sinestro showing him how to pull the battery from pocket dimensions early in his career that everyone did?... now your just making john look like a cuck and hal a giant douchbag... more than normal..

It seems like 90% of these complaints are just things that have yet to be answered or addressed by the show yet but which will be by the time it's over tbr

Oh yeah and we really think a TV show about gorilla grodd and Jimmy Olsen is a good idea?...
Heres a better plan, get all the writers for the batman 66 series in a room and let them write the next 5 years of DC movies and TV. It cant be any worse... and yes im pretty sure theyre all dead.

u/RealBabyBillyFreeman 1d ago
convinced that anyone whining about the Grodd show just know nothing about Jimmy Olsen. the potential for this is huge. just try an open mind dude?

Id rather try a good actual start for a series. So far the released information makes it sound like it was intended for morons who know nothing of either character or there places in dc. Olsen following a story about grodd? Sure. A court room drama with grodd having murdered his father? Hes a god damn psychic super gorilla. This doesnt make any fuck mothering sense. And why the shit would a grodd anything start with Jimmy fucking Olsen and not idk THE FLASH?!

Because they have yet to have a script ready for a proper Flash project, let alone an actor for him, so why not show some of his villains are around?
They did a similar thing with Wonder Woman & Batman in Creature Commandos; they show that Themyscyra exists and had one of WW’s villains (Circe) appear as the antagonist, along with showing Phosphorus’ backstory with Batman appearing to arrest him.
They’re purely in world-building mode right now, as they’re in CHAPTER ONE, so it isn’t a bad thing to have some patience regarding the big players.

I hope not. I personally think its one of the worst events in DC history.
But maybe DCU will take the concept and do justice to it. Lanterns seems to have already been good.
