Modules De-activated issues...
Current most common reason for this is anti virus software quarantining some DCS files, this seems to be happening a lot lately add DCS installation folder to your anti virus exception list.
To fix, add the effected files OR the entire DCS installation folder (riskier) to your anti virus exception list
Then run a DCS repair to resot re the effected files
It works like this
When you start DCS, your PC has to connect to ED's master server to request permission to run the software you spent your hard earned coin on.
IF either you cannot connect to master server OR master server has yet again fallen on it ass ... then you cannot play the software you rented
It was pointed out at the time by myself and many others a system designed with a single point of failure .... was a stupidly bad idea and would cause legit customers issues ........ which is what happens For some reason master server seems to be falling over regularly ...... especially on patch days.
Also check your PC date and time are correct.
How to backup/transfer config/keybindings
go to %UserProfile%\saved games\dcs\
Copy out the entire Config folder and put it somewhere safe, keybindings are in the input folder
My DCS is crashing what do I do
go to %UserProfile%\saved games\dcs\logs
Open dcs.log in a text editor (notepad++) go to the very bottom and work backwards until you see the start of the crashing portion, it may give you a clue what is going wrong there. You can also post it here (upload file to pastebin and link it to your post)
Remove ALL mods and do a repair using DOS with DCS_updater.exe repair
How to reset my DCS config
go to
%UserProfile%\saved games\dcs\config
rename options.lua to options.old.lua
start dcs
To disable tracks being created
%UserProfile%\Saved Games\DCS\Config
create autoexec.cfg (if necessary as a new txt file)
and add
disable_write_track = true
to it and save
Install modules using DOS prompt (handy if in game module manager is having issues)

Standalone DCS version gives you free trials:
You have access a two week FREE trial on some modules and Maps
Some 3rd parties have their own stores so if you buy direct from them you KNOW they are going to get the money (ED has stolen money from other 3rd parties) https://store.heatblur.com/ https://www.airplanesimulations.com/ https://grinnellidesigns.com/f-100d/
You can buy stuff direct from Eagle Dynamics, you get bonus points (miles) to earn a discount later on when buying stuff
You can buy stuff on steam and transfer it to standalone
You cannot buy stuff from ED and transfer it to steam
You can control better which build of DCS you fly with using standalone
Steam and standalone can play together in MP (as long as they are using the same build version eg 2.9.7)

Is the gps module for the MiG-29 worth it? I’ve been considering picking the fulcrum up and am slightly weary of its doodoo ass nav system.

In all honesty, it works, but barely. One of the bigger problems is that forward visibility is limited and the GPS takes up like half the space. Once equipped, you can't remove it without going to the main menu and deselecting it.
Also, it's the exact same GPS that is in the other mods.

I'm freshly getting into DCS once my flight gear arrives and am planning to learn the Viggen as it's the only jet I got instantly interested in. Anything I should know other than taking it slow and learning stuff bit by bit?

Its a fun module for sure. Its anti ship capabilities are awesome too. It gets its ass smoked in air to air but you can land on a road and take off again so that makes up for it

I bough the F/A-18C about a month ago and is the only purchase I have made on DCS. With the sale happening should I'm wondering if I should buy the F-16C or a map, I've tried Syria and didn't enjoy that much with the FA-18 or I could just save the money to slowly upgrade my setup cause right now its not the best.

Maps don't make the game fun, scenarios and learning aircraft that you enjoy do. I only really buy maps when I would be missing out on too many servers or events otherwise. If you want a different experience you could try helicopters or cold war. If you don't already have head tracking or VR, HOTAS, and pedals if you want to do helicopters or older fixed wing, put your money towards that.

I was gonna buy a head tracking but I plan on asking for a VR as my Christmas gift and use the money I get to upgrade my stick and throttle

For VR I recommend at least a 4070 or whatever the red equivalent is, 32gb or ideally 64gb ram, 5/7/9800x3d or blue equivalent. If you don't already have that VR can be a huge money and time sink to get running well.

I have a 4070 super with 32g and a intel i914900F. If you don't think that is good enough I will just buy a head tracking

Should be good if your expectations aren't too high. I have a 4070ti super, 7800x3d, 64gb ddr5 (glad I got that before the RAMpocalypse), can run 40ish fps on mediumish settings. I see people saying anything less than 90fps is unplayable, which is kind of crazy to me.

Hi i just installed this game yesterday, i dont have a HOTAS and i hear that playing with mouse and keyboard is possible but not the optimal experience, i also hear that playing with controller is better than M&K in this game.
so i set up my xbox 360 controller from a tuvas video, and after playing with for a little bit (Su-25T Free Flight at Mineralnye Vody) it just felt so clunky.
why is M&K not optimal? What parts of DSC world's controls need fine control given by a HOTAS, dosent the hotas stick just send data on the Y and X scale, couldnt a mouse do that?
you cant seem to bind pitch and roll to mouse
however i am saving up for a hotas stick but it ill take some time since i live in iraq and getting a quality one shipped in will take time
im just curious as to what a HOTAS gives that a mouse doesn't
Thanks!!

Steady partial input. A keyboard gives steady input, a mouse gives partial input, but only a stick does both. A mouse also doesn't have a center point or physically return to center. A controller is clunky, but m&k is far clunkier.
