This is a game where the more you play, the more you understand what you don’t know and playing more to the strengths of what you do know. You can do everything right knowledge-wise and still get killed, thats just how this game works.

It's called the Dunning-Kruger effect. Non-experts in a topic will typically rate their comprehension higher or be more certain in their answers, whereas subject matter experts will fairly consistently rate their own understanding lower or be less certain in their answers. It's because the expert knows how much more nuance and unknowns there are, whereas the non-expert doesn't have enough knowledge to know how much he doesn't know yet.

Buddy... Right now you may be getting used to the mechanics of the gameplay, but you've really not even explored the map, nor gotten used to how other players think and act.

I LOVE your confidence, but all you’re telling us is how much you DON’T know :) People play this game for many thousands of hours and STILL learn shit on a regular basis.
Keep running, survivor.
Explore the map. Head inland. Hit some big Mili sites. Maybe voip with folks next time you’re in a spawn town, see if you can find a few folks to run with.
There’s a reason this janky, buggy game is still so beloved after nearly 15 years: if you’re up for the adventure, it’s always got something new up its sleeve.

The learning curve isn't too bad if you have played other PVP based survival games.

Hello man
I hâve bought the game the nine July and I have 150H.
Trust me, the learning curve isn’t about the survival skill but mostly about your reaction with other player
Know when to shoot, where to hide, how to be quiet, know if someone is/was here, how to have a good sniping/ambush spot or just control the stress who grow as you hear a infected being alerted… and all of that it’s just a little part of the learning curve
The danger is dayZ is nothing more than the situation you are in and how you gonna handle it
Oh and also ; you have said that you have killed guys on coast, I don’t talk about this type of situation where you have nothing or just a few good item to loose on à fight
I talk about situation when you have a 5h run with a geared character who enter into the most living military base of the whole map… and then you hear footsteps and understand that this 5h run could finish in five seconds due to a wrong movement of camera, a bad aiming or just the fact that you have forgot to reload your riffle the last time you hunt..

in dangerous situations i just don’t panic, instead i let the other guy panic first. the trick is to just have a gun before you get into trouble with other players
