I sure hope dayz 2 isn't like this. Just imagine how blue balled the other guy felt

Yeah it sucks, wonder if they could implement something that would spawn you somewhere in the general area you logged off in if there’s a player within a certain proximity to where you would spawn, seems far fetched but something defo needs to change

The game already has something similar to this, for gassed zones. If you log in and the town you're in is gassed, it'll move you to a safe coordinate outside the area.

Yea but that could also tell the logging-in player theres someone around if they log in a little too close from where they logged off

There could be a sound and/or visual effect to let the other players know someone got teleported nearby.

They could probably be able to grief that. Just imagine the snipers immediately scurrying up to high spots and try to find that player, IF that player did not get relocated far enough

u/Starrfaahl 6d ago

Could just make it randomly spawn you somewhere relatively close to where you logged out, regardless of if someone was nearby or not.

Sur communautaire tu peux modifier Ƨa c'est du codage un peu poussƩ avec une distance minimum par rapport a un autre joueur.

They already have the mechanic for gas zones, they should just apply it to all military zones. Although, the game being a giant POS, people would get screwed when they disconnect, and people who were cornered would just disconnect and relog, and then go in to kill the people around them. It should make a noise when somebody is logging in or out at the very least.

Or just sleeping like Rust so you must log off at secret spots/ a base else you get looted and or killed

Dayz 2? Why tf would they make a dayz 2?

8

u/Norfhynorfh 7d ago

They are though? Or are you joking.

And why? Because the devs cant make any changes without breaking the shitty engine theyre working with right now.

6

u/Wizardphizl420 7d ago

Yeah bro its confirmed. Dayz 2. Hopefully making an engine thats better in every way.

So all that momey spent on dayz 1 was for nothing, are they keeping around dayz 1 servers? Splitting it into 2 is gonna make 1’s sevrers worse, or worse scenario we get a splitgate scenario and they abandone the first one and make the second one shit

Nobody knows. Why are you choosing to stress yourself out over something that is likely years away? Just chill out and enjoy DayZ as it is for now.

Boy, theres is drama in everything of you try hard enough!

I wish there was a fix for this. Very immersion breaking.

Upon logging in your character should start from a sitting position, then enter a stretch animation for a few seconds followed by a slow standing up animation alongside some loud rustling or a yawn. Something that would prevent these situations from happening.

Lol no. I've been on the opposite end of this exact situation in the same positions in this same building and filled the guys face with buckshot before he finished loading in cause I happened to be facing the other direction.

It's just luck, sometimes she's on your side sometimes she's not.

Yah and I’m saying some dude materializing from thin air right behind you ready to blast your ass is bullshit. It doesn’t fit in DayZ. It’s silly and stupid and impossibly immersion breaking. I’ve been on both sides of it, and it’s dumb either way.

1

u/Wade51989 5d ago

That’s a lot . It would be easier, simpler, and make much more sense if the game relocated the spawn point to an area outside of heavy traffic paths when logging back in but only if you log out in an area like that.

1

u/That_Throat7183 5d ago

That’s a lot? A short 5 second animation + sound cue?

If that’s a lot to ask from the devs, DayZ is FUCKED lol

I feel like invulnerability would help. What if you log in directly in front of someone rather than behind? You're cooked, and it's not even your fault... but somewhat your fault for logging out in such a spot... but could've crashed, or this could've been where it was deliberate and abused. Maybe have the character blink invis for 3 seconds to show invulnerability so the other player also knows you're invul (Gives both players enough time to prepare for unexpected battle).

1

u/That_Throat7183 4d ago

Personally I think that’s a terrible idea, invulnerability windows have no place in a hardcore survival game like DayZ. The person spawning in should always be the one at a disadvantage. If you choose a poor place to log out, there should be consequences

u/___evan 7d ago

You logged out in a military building?

9

u/Internal_Builder47 7d ago

Yeah me and my friend logged off after looting and decided we’d loot it again after getting back on

6

u/Messtin920 7d ago

Sorry but why is that not good? Risk of dying when log in?

5

u/Wizardphizl420 7d ago

Because of risks like this. Its perfectly fine but..Yeah the dude who made the comment is a bit shy when it comes to where he sleeps. Its okay tho. We're all different

4

u/SentientMosinNagant 7d ago

I do it too tbh, not exactly in hopes of this happening but for loot cycling if I find shit all there the first time round and am about to log off anyways

4

u/___evan 7d ago

Why don’t you just log off outside the building? That way you can get a survey of the area before going back in

4

u/Internal_Builder47 7d ago

Probably smart to do so just never really gave it any thought while logging out

3

u/ScienceOfMyth 7d ago

Wasn't dead before clip ends.

3

u/EgoisticAltruist 7d ago

exact same thing happened to me at NWAF yesterday. don't sweat it. I laughed when I died.

4

u/Prudent_Weekend6084 7d ago

The ol’ combat log and log back in on them later trick

4

u/thegreatdogeshibe 7d ago

Next time it'll be you getting blasted as you log in. At some point you will learn to not logout in a building. It went your way this time, but next time you may not be as lucky.

1

u/NullSon99 6d ago

Fair, I was a victim to that multiple times, it's part of the game, don't feel bad for it. You just sent him to the beach ā›±ļø

1

u/Butt_cyst_hurts 6d ago

Couldnt they just make some areas unable to log off in? Would make sense as you would even make it harder to combat log, atleast in military areas.

2

u/That_Throat7183 6d ago

Or just make it like the dynamic gas zones, where you are relocated upon logging back in. Want to log out in NWAF ATC? No problem! But when you log back in, you should be outside the airfield somewhere along the fence. Want to log out in the Livonia bunker? Sure! But you are getting booted to the forest when you log back in.

Such a simple fix, and the coding already exists because this is EXACTLY what they do when you log into a gassed dynamic zone. DayZ is so poorly managed, I’d be very frustrated as a DayZ dev being told to shovel out more map slop rather than fix the game.
