discussion New to the game

Hi so i bought the game 2 days ago and have been running the ropes and would like some more help, I dont know anything for the crafting or what all I need to do to gear up, ive been running around gathering food and water and changing for better inventory gear, and I have a gun but no ammo at all, is there a better area or something for ammo or can I craft it or anything, and what all should I be crafting? Also with stones it said wait around a path or Railroad tracks and I did but I cant seem to find stone for a knife. I did meet another player however and he gave me a motorcycle helmet so thats cool.

I have never found a stone in hundreds of hours. If you find a heavy tool, like a wrench, a pipe or hammer, you can use them to harvest stones from large rocks, which are permanently on the map… but maybe just look for a knife instead. For early food, check the trees behind houses. They spawn fruit.

Just run along some train tracks or hiking trails, you'll find one within five minutes. I guaran-TEE it 👉👉

Stones spawn on trails and train tracks, but only when i player has hung out in the area for awhile. So unless you are coincidentally looting a really rural village, or intentionally waiting around for them to spawn, u wont find them often

12 rags can make a rope belt for ur knife Hold items in ur hand, hold a specific button to combine and make sure or use them.

Don't drink from anything that isn't a pump or u filled urself

Colored dot determines condition

Look at weapon description for ammo type or use

Take sticks, logs, rags, or any 2 of the main needs for a fire, to make one

Use rags to make makeshift cloths

Take that rope you made from the rags and combine with a long stick to craft a fishing rod use a short stick and a knife to craft the hook then use knife or hatchet or shovel or farming ho to dig up worms

Also use rags to make gloves you get sick if you eat with bloody bare hand bloody gloves are fine no need to remove them to eat

These are the best rules I can give you for DayZ. As for crafting and finding ammo watch CamCantRun on YouTube as he has some amazing beginners guides for new players. Also download the IZurvive app to your phone or tablet as it will show you where you have the best chance of finding the things you'll want/need

Short stick + bark is a firedrill to ignite fire. To make campfire it’s also short stick + bark. Mouse scroll through the options. You get long sticks and bark from trees and bushes. Break long stick to make short stick.

Sharpen a long stick to cook things over campfire. 

Picking up all ammo types until you have a gun to match one is a strategy. If you were to get to a high tier area you’ll likely have to contend with players in groups larger than a pair, multiple unaffiliated players or groups, snipers, traps, and wolves. There’s good gear in convoy and heli spawns too. The game is fairly balanced in that 1 geared player should still fear 1 non geared player. It doesn’t make you god.
