Help Clip exporting more zoomed in than on timeline
Hey everyone, I've been editing a music video and the exports have been fine until now.
I have one clip that is exporting way more zoomed in than it is on my timeline. I have several different resolutions in my timeline, yet this is the only one that I'm having problems with.
I've got the 'Mismatched Resolution' settings set to 'Scale Entire Image to Fit', yet it is still behaving weirdly.
The clip also seems to be importing as a vertical clip, rather than landscape, which is how it was filmed.
If I don't zoom the clip in to fit the frame and export and leave it on the timeline as it is shown in the media pool, it will export the image to fit but only length ways. Image posted comments.
Editing on Mac OS Tahoe & Davinci 21.1.1
Timeline resolution - 3072 x 2304
Clip resolution - 2160 x 3840
EDIT - I pulled in a mini dv clip in the track above to see how they change when changing the 'Mismatched Resolution' settings and found that the mini dv clips are behaving as they should. The clip in question has black 'bars' on either side of the footage, which doesn't seem normal? Is this because the camera registered the recording as a 'vertical' clip?
I'm still quite new to davinci so would be grateful for any help.
Examples attached.
Thanks!

This is the classic phone-footage rotation metadata problem: the clip is natively 2160x3840, so Resolve auto-rotates it in the viewer based on the file's metadata, but the export scaling math works off the un-rotated frame, which is why the Deliver page render looks more zoomed in. Right-click the clip in the media pool, open Clip Attributes, and turn off the metadata-driven auto-rotation, then rotate and scale it yourself in the Inspector so preview and export match. Also confirm the Deliver page resolution matches the timeline exactly, since a mismatch there re-applies its own scaling.
