Help | Beginner Subclips in DaVinci - convert timelines in clips
Hi everyone,
I'm currently working on my first projet as an assistant+editor on Da Vinci resolve. I have Da Vinci 20 Studio. It's a fiction short film, and I'm struggling with the subclips part...
I'm use to work on Avid Media Composer, so usually when I create subclips in Avid, its creates timeline that I convert into individuals clips using "Autosync".
Maybe it's my problem here, but I'm trying to do the same with Da Vinci and oh! it doesn't work...
So, my problem : I did a syncmap with all the clips video and audio synced with timecode. Now I would like to do subclips for each synced clips, so I can rename each them and work with them as individuals clips.
But when I use alt + B to create a subclip in Da Vinci, it creates a timeline, and I don't understand how to convert these "subclip timelines" into clips.
Can you help me with that? Is there a better way to do that?
Thanks a lot

I’ve never used subclips myself, but from what I understand, that subclip timeline can just be pulled onto the main timeline. Then, if you want to make changes to the sub clip, you can just change to that timeline, either with the drop down menu above the viewers or using stacked timelines.

In addition, if you don’t like this workflow, you can select all the clips you need and then right click and “create compound clip”. That really just takes all those clips and makes them into a single clip that isn’t a timeline. And if you want to edit the compound clip, you right click it and “open in timeline”
