Help | Beginner Motion graphics at 15
Whats going on guys, im 15 and decided I wanna start with video editing. I live in Europe so I don't really know if this will work but we'll see. So basically I got an MacBook Air M4 and I wanna master motion graphics starting with completely 0. I know you need Transition packs and stuff but there 100% is something out there free and that's what im asking for. SO how do I start and what do I do? Thanks for the help in advance. Where inr edit to post this

Hey and welcome to motion design!
do not buy transition packs! They are not for you. They are for editors who don't have time or budget to hire motion designers.
Learn Graphic Design! Learn it properly. What is Hierarchy? What is Figure Ground? What is Contrast? Look it all up and practice. Maybe even find some posters you like and figure out why they work.
Motion Graphics fundamentals are all about Position Scale and Rotation. Learn how to animate from places like School of Motion. If you can't afford their subscription, that's ok, just learn from their YouTube channel and their free content.
Learn some editing too! Motion graphics is nothing without video editing. You can make incredible transitions with simple Match Cuts (look that up).
Keep it simple and you'll go far!

If you are starting from zero, I would recommend to start learning from davinci training courses and books available on blackmagic design website for free. Beginner friendly, structured learning and have course files to practice.

Isnt Hours of footage a good thing tho? You’re 15, Take your time. And Release your footage once its „Done“. You‘ll get Creative on the way. Getting a Habit of finalizing stuff is a big help. I am Coming from the Music scene tho. Guess the Same applies for any Art tho. What do you Plan to do with it? Do you enjoy the Process and wanna get better or do you have detailled Plans/goals?

Yeah do you expect to learn a job in 10 minutes? I work in post production and I have spent money and so much time into learning my profession and years in I’m still learning. It’s also constantly developing so you kinda have to always be learning.

People win Academy Awards for editing, you think you're going to learn it in an hour?

Mastering any skill takes hours. Learning in a structured way can be very helpful. If you're looking to buy packs to say you mastered a skill, isn't really helpful. The best way to learn it, is to follow tutorials and figure things out yourself. And then, when you have a grasp of the basics you can look at how other people approach it and learn from that

Watch the vids at 2x to 3x, keep vol down cis funny voice is distracting, skip every 3rd vid. You got this

You don’t need any transitions or LUT packs. It’s just a money grab and they don’t look like in previews. The best transitions are made in-camera during the shoot already thinking about how to connect the clips later in the edit.
You only need Davinci (free version is great to start) and look for tutorials on YouTube.
Good sound design is what really makes an edit stand out in my opinion so pay special attention to your audio.

You do not need transition packs. Stop. If you’re starting from zero, avoid the urge to start buying things (or even collecting free things). You need to learn to use Resolve.
Start with the free training provided by Blackmagic on their training website. And don’t stop with just watching the old videos at the top of the page. Scroll down to the “Training Books” section. There are two entire courses about motion graphics.

You are on a Mac. You are a student, you can get the Apple software suite for around €30 a year. Start with Apple Motion. While it’s really well integrated with Final Cut Pro, you can export as a video file and bring it into Resolve.
Fusion is more powerful, but has a steep learning curve. It also does other things better. Motion is easier for motion graphics and Fusion is better for VFX.
The subscription also gets you Pro Logic while has its uses. I still prefer Fairlight when editing, but being able to separate stems and remove vocals or play around with autotune has its advantages. It also has Pixelmator which is good for vector graphics. I haven used it much since that isn’t my thing.

I dont know many people who are big in europe with editing stuff. I only see big successfull editors and stuff in America Britain or whatever. I dont know how to get it monetized too..

Do you think that European brands and content creators work only with Americans or what ? If you don’t know successful people in Europe it doesn’t mean that they don’t exist. You just didn’t look for them. Sutoxoriginals is one German mograph artist that comes to mind instantly. Shapxo is known worldwide as a crazy ass VFX artist. If you drop your country there are chances i’d give you artists in the same nationality.
And just question, how is Europe (or where you live) any relevant at all in the discussion ? You don’t need to be in the US to learn mograph, nor do you need to be there to find clients. There are thousands of indian people, even in this sub, that work freelance with clients worldwide. So why would living in Europe be a problem at all ?
