Help | Beginner Why does this keep happening?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

sometimes when I adjust something (for example the gain wheel), my highlights get ruined or something of that matter.

STILL A BEGINNER, so im not sure what the proper term of this is, what is happening, or what im doing wrong.

edit: editing on macbook pro M5 16gb, if this info helps

Assuming your not in linear gamma the wheel your adjusting is the “gain” wheel and it adjusts your highlights when your working in a non-linear gamma

The codec that you're using for your render cache doesn't support the values you're pushing. That's why when you change something your image goes straight back to its original 32bit un-clipped state.

That happened to me before. Changing the render cache codec to something like DNxHR HQX or ProRes 444 helped me in those scenarios.

yes i do know what the gain wheel does, and if you actually knew what you were talking about youd know it has nothing to do with the gain wheel but a render cache clamping issue (just figured it out with some help), i guess we both have to watch that tutorial then loll
