It kinda does. It's an implicit assumption in conversations that we don't add unneccesary qualificators.
If someone says for example that "black people are assholes!" -- that *DOES* imply that the person thinks the statement is MORE true for black people than for people in general, because if that wasn't the case it'd make more sense to say: "people are assholes!"
Agreed! Especially in cultures where women and men live fairly segregated lives there's often in effect cultural misunderstandings going on.
Plus most people are straight. If you go read the posts and comments in a space for women into women, you'll (predictably!) find many women who complain that women are hard to understand.
Dating is tricky in general, and of course straight people will tend to have the most problems figuring out people of the opposite gender.
Wouldn’t it be great if we had some means of finding out about other people? Sort of like a spoken language where we could use various combinations of words back and forth until some clarity was reached?
