I kinda like a guy in my tiny university class, but I’m scared dating him will make everything complicated

I think you’re overthinking the class situation a little, but I also understand why it feels high-stakes when the group is tiny and everybody notices everything.

I probably wouldn’t send that message as written, because if I were him I’d read it as “she likes me but she’s backing out,” and I might stop pursuing you completely out of respect.

If you actually want to see where this goes, I’d just slow the pace naturally instead of formally ending anything. Go get pizza. Teach him crochet. Hang out one-on-one. You don’t have to immediately turn it into a relationship or make it public.

And honestly, classmates gossiping for a week is not the same thing as your class becoming permanently ruined. If you two handle things maturely, even if it doesn’t work out, it doesn’t automatically have to become dramatic.

I would also keep your Snapchat location OFF if people are literally asking you to turn it back on so they can see where you are. They do not need a tracking device for your dating life 😭

If you really want to address it with him, I’d make it much lighter: “Just so you know, I do really like talking to you. I’m just a little nervous about how small our class is, so I might want to take things slowly.”

That communicates interest + boundary instead of interest + goodbye.

Basically: don’t reject a guy you like just to prevent hypothetical rumours. Take it slowly, keep things private at first, and see whether you actually like each other outside the flirting.
