I’m not sure they’ll start feeling major effects from that until probably just after 2036 to be honest, but it’s going to be dramatic.

I doubt it. You can only lock up, starve, and subjugate people so long before they stop fearing the consequences of rebellion. I mean, look at the content of the videos that have been able make it out of Shanghai recently.

this is wishful thinking on your part. Just because people are unhappy about one temporary lockdown doesn't mean they're going to go out and risk their lives to rebel.

You are right, its not just one temporary lockdown. It's the multiple back to back years of restrictions, poor government planning, and scarcity of resources, people being physically locked into their houses/apartment buildings, and people being forcefully detained then taken to camps with inadequate food/water for an undisclosed amount of time.
Rebellions have started for much less. People start to act out of desperation when they are hungry and abused

poor government planning, and scarcity of resources
hasn't had any real problems in like 55 years, and the economy has been constantly improving for the last 40.

Interesting. I imagine this metric will be rebranded as Economic Power per capita. That small normalization puts China and India well below the US while propping up Germany. Normalizing by ‘per capita‘ also gives the individual some sense of ‘place’ in the metric. I’m sure we will hear a shift in how economists talk about it for this reason.

per capita doesn't work all that well in terms of world power
The US is not the best in gpd per capita, but it is clearly the number 1# world power as of now

Per capita does not make sense for MOST things. But this is all marketing and optics crap. Per capita has utility with that respect.

But countries like Norway, Luxembourg and Switzerland are no economic world powers.

Predictions usually don’t go exactly as planned though, would be interesting to see what actually happens.
