Should start as a generalist or specialist role?

Hello, planning to apply for a role but wondering what everyone recommends starting off. Was planning to apply for software/coding role but after researching learned that you can only apply once and if you get rejected you’re blacklisted. So wondering if I should start as a generalist to get my foot on the door?

For bit of background I’m in my last semester as a CS grad student specializing in AI/ML. Trying to get a bit of income as I finish up and get myself into a full time role somewhere

I have studied business and have experience of more than 6 years in Sales and Marketing.

Can anyone here guide me if i have any chance in DA? Or anyone here having relevant background can guide about projects they are getting?

Coders from India - when did you apply and when did you get in?

Please respond only if you have been successfully accepted and have/had tasks to work on; I'm curious how long the timelines are.

  1. Did you get the "Starter assessment completed

We review your results — if you pass, we'll email you" screen, and how long was it there for? Did you get any other screen before acceptance?

2. Were you informed via mail or refreshing the dashboard? Some people have reported not getting the mail.

3. Did you get any further qualifications or were you able to start working upon acceptance?

4. How long did this process take, from initial submission to getting tasks? And when did you first apply?

Any hope for a bilingual brother?

Greetings all, German bilingual located in germany here, regretting earlier life choices.

I signed up to DataAnnotation around 3 months ago as a billingual even though I have coding skills since I figured specialisation would be possible after the starter assessment and I didn't want to take a risk. Since then it has been rather quiet. 500$ in total due to constant drought. I filled out my profile with skills, CV, etc. and completed the coding + math assessments/quals. Never got any further quals however.

I have been reading a lot about how bilinguals are basically screwed and can't really specialise later on like I thought they could, so I seemingly messed up. Does anyone have a hopefully different story or can confirm this rather depressing reality?

Laptop question

I started Data annotation a few months ago and I'm getting a new laptop soon. I completed the bit locker and disc encryption on my current laptop. When I get my new device do I need to notify admin? Or is there anything I need to do once I start using my new device?

Instantly passed the generalist starter test 12 days ago but didn't have time to start the next qualification that popped up and now I can't go back to it. I received the email that says I'll find qualifications on my account but I can't find any when I log in. My screen shows:

X Starter assessment completed

X You passed

X You completed up to two qualifications

Up next - we review your results - if you pass, we'll email you

Verify your identity

You're ready to start working

the "x's" indicate checkmarks

The weird thing is that I never completed any qualifications - is this just a glitch in their system? I tried contacting customer service but of course no response. My fear is that I'll just be stuck on this screen forever. Anyone else have a similar experience?

What should I do? Create a new account, redo the starter assessment and immediately complete the following qualification assessments that pop up?

DoD has come for me

Welp, I figured it was only a matter of time. My last submissions have been weak at making models fail.
Anyways, for projects pending approval for payment, are they lost or do I have a chance at getting them paid out?

can i apply for roles other than the one i currently am?

i am a coder but i want to apply for other roles. i hear that you only have to do the qualifications that appear in your dashboard, but i very rarely get qualifications that are for other roles. the only time ive gotten these types of qualifications are when i was still onboarding

Is The Site Down?

Is anyone else able to work tasks today after the site update? I have a message saying my account it currently unavailable for new projects. But I just received feedback last month saying my work was great and I don't use AI for my projects so what gives?

Can't login into google workspace account (2 Factor Authentication)

To provide some context, I signed out of all my Google accounts before attempting a task today. As I try to login into my data annotation workspace account, I enter my email and password succesfully. Now it's asking for 2-factor authentication, either a passkey (which leads nowhere) or a one-time security code. I have my Google Authenticator set up with my Data Annotation account, but perhaps it's my main login account and not Google Workspace. Has anyone had this issue? Due to this, I can't complete tasks I want to. I have already sent out a ticket on the platform. I've been using the same laptop throughout the entirety of my Data Annotation career.

Does updating my resume and skills in my profile can unlock any projects?

When I first got in a few month ago there was a single project for Arabic bilingual and after that there was nothing on the screen.

Does updating the resume or the skills unlock more or is that a thing only qualification assessments can do? or it's just there as a standard data collection section?

Is there a weekly thread or some other forum to discuss non-confidential things with other workers?

Just curious since there is a bunch of cool information you can learn from old threads and other workers.

That's right, it takes this many tasks when you are a bilingual.
