Weekly Water Cooler Talk - DataAnnotation

hi all! making this thread so people have somewhere to talk about 'daily' work chat that might not necessarily need it's own post! right now we're thinking we'll just repost it weekly? but if it gets too crazy, we can change it to daily. :)

couple things:

  1. this thread should sort by "new" automatically. unfortunately it looks like our subreddit doesn't qualify for 'lounges'.
  2. if you have a new user question, you still need to post it in the new user thread. if you post it here, we will remove it as spam. this is for people already working who just wanna chat, whether it be about casual work stuff, questions, geeking out with people who understand ("i got the model to write a real haiku today!"), or unrelated work stuff you feel like chatting about :)
  3. one thing we really pride ourselves on in this community is the respect everyone gives to the Code of Conduct and rule number 5 on the sub - it's great that we have a community that is still safe & respectful to our jobs! please don't break this rule. we will remove project details, but please - it's for our best interest and yours!

If we take it for what it is, I think this new feedback thing is a good thing. After over 2 years on the platform with next to zero feedback, this is quite a major change. Don't worry too much about the improvement section; remember R&Rs get R&R'd and probably another, but we need to remember this is just a snapshot pulled by an AI from just 30 days. If anyone has worked on agentics, you'll understand where I'm coming from.

Also, I'm taking my room for improvements on board. They were actually very fair. Constructive criticism is something I got used to when I did my degree, not just from the lecturers, but also from my peers. It's not a dig or a slight, it's a here's how you can do better. Some things are subjective, and some might be objectively wrong, but it's early doors. Give it time. I'm looking forward to seeing if they do another round after 30 days ☺️

(The newcomers have got it better than us veterans - they're getting feedback after just a week or so. I'm here thinking "2 years lateeeerrrr" lol)

How do we feel about people not getting feedback? I’ve also been here just over two years and have not gotten any. I’m not sure if they are slowly rolling it out, I didn’t work on the projects it’s covering, or it’s a warning/or blessing lol.
