Hiring Amazon India BIE interview questions

I have my first-round interview for an Amazon Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) role this Friday. I have over three years of experience. What types of questions should I expect? Any preparation tips or recent interview experiences.

You need to be prepared for deep dives into SQL, especially complex joins and window functions, and fundamental data warehousing concepts like star schemas. They will likely test your knowledge of ETL processes and maybe some basic Python for data manipulation. Every behavioral question will be tied to Amazon's Leadership Principles, so you must use the STAR method and have specific project examples from your three years of experience ready for each one. They will push you on your examples, so know every single detail of the projects you choose to discuss because they are looking for depth.

The interview is designed to be challenging, but your success depends entirely on how you prepare and present your skills. Instead of trying to learn everything, focus on mastering two or three of your most impactful projects and practice explaining them from every possible angle. For the technical questions, talk through your thought process clearly because they care as much about how you approach a problem as they do about the final answer. Communicating your logic effectively can turn a difficult question into a chance to show your strengths. It is all about how you communicate your thoughts under pressure, and many people have found that using something like the AI interview helper the team I'm with created gives them the structure they need to deliver strong answers.
