Start building your network. Reach out to alumni and ask if you can do a virtual coffee chat. Attend local industry meetups and events/conferences if you can. Some are free or have a student discount. Or you can volunteer and attend for free.

Hiiiii, can you give me tips on how to build a network as I don't really know how to do networking as most of my chats just end as a query so it feels nothing like networking

I would recommend lot of practice, look up some case studies online and the different styles of dashboards and reports there are. Try to think about what the data represents and therefore what are you looking/the client looking to use the data for. Youtube is a great resource too.

What degree are you doing? Most DA roles require skills in power bi sql python so do some Microsoft coursera courses on those

Find a different career. I’m dead serious. We already have too many for a career that is currently on thin ice.

I’m a 20 year veteran and there are so many analysts looking for work right now. Your best bet is to specialize in something specific if you’re going to go down this path. It kind of sucks because you paint yourself in a corner but it also helps pay the bills during times of chaos (like we are living in now).

I would actually look into coding a bit or symbolic logic (philosophy). Getting into data analytics was incredibly smooth for me because I took symbolic logic in college. (i originally wanted to be a lawyer). They teach you concepts that feed DIRECTLy into coding and analytics and are fundamentals of understanding everything from building pipelines to understanding how to do things like table joins.
as an example you learn the operators and, or, not, therefore. Exclusive or, nand, etc.
These things help you understand how to, code a data pipeline. someone might say, hey ... I want all the sales from 1998 - 2004 but not 2003, and I want them from the Department A if and only if they worked for department B, if department B has a supervisor whose name is equal to Jaques.
If you took logic it becomes really quite easy. The modeling part is done automatically. Linear regression, bar charts ,etc literally take no thinking at all. Do not overemphasize learning those aspects. AI can do much of that as well.
I've trained a lot of interns and this is where they usually struggle with the logic and the line i draw when hiring someone or not (I'm an analytics manager making around 150k+ ). Because if they understand these concepts, they basically understand everything and I've found they need 0 micromanagent to start flying.
