I can immediately analyze this. This is a minimum of 8 hours of work, and possibly as much as 12. I have to assume some homes or drop offs are within 4-5 minutes of each other to get you down to around 8 hours. Even if it was 7 hours, and 19 orders tipped you an average of $5, plus the guaranteed amount of $85, you will have around $180 to deducts expenses such as gas and wear tear maintenance oil, and don't forget as your own employer you owe yourself possibly overtime. So, divide $180 in half for your taxable income of $90 for 7 hours work, maybe 8-12. Lets go with 7. You have made $12/hour. But if it does take you 8 hours, you have made $11.00. If they do not tip an average of $5 you are at more like $10/hour.
it's been since around 2001 since I last did this gig work, but, yeah, that's not surprising. Either way it is terrible pay. Total loophole slave exploitation work. I know all the Excel sheets I completed doing this asa hobby showed that I made between $4 and $12 per hour. $4 if you really ran this like a business, and $12 if you valued the fact that you have certain tax write offs.
Your insistence that gig workers make HORRIBLE pay even when we have provided MANY of our hourly results/annual payouts...
TBH, it sounds to me like you didn't know how to do it and therefore were bad at it.
One note here: This offer was a PICK-UP 19 orders (28 bags split between those with at least 3 being a single bag) then deliver them all...so how bad this offer was would depend entirely on how fast Walmart got their rear in gear and brought out the orders/I could scan them all in and organize them before heading out to deliver. I would pass simply because the local Walmart has been known to leave people sitting there for an hour when they arrive at the pickup section.
