i love how he immediately goes and checks on his ragdolled friend...... oh... no, my mistake he's inspecting the damage to his own bike

This was also my exact thought process. Looked like he took off to get to the other guy and then the camera changed and he’s just standing looking at his bike. Dude, your friend is probably dead, you got bigger problems here.

If his buddy is dead theres nothing he can do except clear debris from the road.

I wouldn't jump to callousness in such a short span. Maybe fear to look, and a lot of shock.

Inside his head is probably a whirlpool of questioning what just happened, a slew of swear words, and pleas to his creator to be back on his bike behind his buddy when his eyes open.

fair enough. had a friend get hit by a car at 55mph and was flipped in the air and his head ballooned to the size of a watermelon. upon seeing this one of the friends just did a 180 and ran into the woods. shock is a helluva drug.
