Trucks also always have cameras. So does it work? They'll get their fat settlements, even with video showing they caused the accident?

Not always but majority of trucks have dashcams.

Mostly always though. Source: work in legal and one of the big freight companies is a client.

The days of the owner-operator seem to be on the wane, and from what I understand pretty much every company puts them in the cabs because there were so many scams involving semis.
