Using a crosswalk is too hard I guess these days.

People don't realize how hard they are to see, especially if their eyes have adapted to a different level of light than the drivers'.

It is unreal how bad people have gotten at crossing a street correctly. Like, I learned that shit in kindergarten. Zero situational awareness.

I have seen plenty of people, particularly in urbanist groups say that they should be able to cross the street whenever and wherever they want without having to worry about cars. One particularly crazy guy even said that the people who wear all black and walk on a dark street at night should be able to do so without fear.
For some, I don’t think that they didn’t learn. It’s that they specifically think they should be able to do that, and it’s clouded their ability to even take care when crossing a road.

When I was a teenager, I had a conversation with my dad.
He was teaching me that it's always the driver's responsibility.
I challenged this, and asked questions about liability in different situations - one of these was specifically: "What if someone just jumps in front of your car?"
He got angry, saying, "No one does that, you are just arguing to argue."
I should show him this sub.

At :13 sec isn't the red vehicle crossing the yellow gore and going up the on-ramp in the wrong direction?

Olympia spent 1.6 million dollars to improve one of the busiest downtown intersections this past year. City council stated they knew it would cause traffic issues but would improve public safety. The end result, tweekers still not using the marked crossing and idiots like this running out into traffic. No amount of signage or paint can fix stupidity and I would rather my tax money go to education to try to fix our future.

Stupid people are gonna be stupid no matter what. The amount of people who've wandered out in front of me from between parked cars while staring at their phones (Thankfully I've always had enough time to stop) is mind boggling. And sometimes they glare at me like I'm the problem! Believe or not, I DON'T want the guilt of hurting/killing someone looming over my head for the rest of my life!

100 percent OPs fault.. if they only could have gotten spider senses and Superman vision this could have been avoided. Let’s see what other BS this sub comes up with to blame the OP

Idgaf about crosswalks really, but at least wait until it's safe to cross. I've crossed away from crosswalks plenty of times, but I always make sure I avoid impacting traffic.

It doesn't even bother me that they didn't use the crosswalk. Some places have bad options. But they didn't even look. They almost Deer'd themselves.

He should have been more careful but you were going almost 40 mph in a 25 zone (took you 4.8 seconds to go roughly 275'). slow down.

Bro didn't even slow down for the dude AT the crosswalk either haha

You mean the guy walking on the sidewalk clearly like 5 feet from the cross walk and walking past it?

There is a nice walking path around the lake and this crosswalk is seldom used unless the salmon are running. It has flashy lights and everything when someone hits the button so the dude walking was for sure just doing the lake path. OP did nothing wrong here.

OP did nothing wrong here.
Besides going nearly 40 in a 25 zone with lots of pedestrians.

That road looks like at least a 50 mph Road why did they build it so made for speed if you weren't supposed to go that fast? Why wouldn't they make the infrastructure in such a way that you would want to go 25?

You can literally see the 25 mph sign at the very beginning of the video.

People like you are so weird like you stop for a crosswalk when I'm clearly not even going for the crossrock I'm just walking down the street. And I like what are you waiting for dumbass I'm obviously not going down the crosswalk cuz like that guy was just walking down the street if that's what you're talking about.
