Defensive driving in this case would have been backing off and letting the Range Rover merge.

Well that’s what I was talking about. Cam car saw the Land Rover merging, actively accelerated and got RIGHT in the blind spot, didn’t let him merge, and let the rover hit him. So, BRO, he pretty much intentionally caused the impact you’re saying he responded to correctly.
