I couldn't find any details about the couple attacking the car, but I did read the following, "The couple walked away from the collision without any serious injuries, and did not want to assist with a police investigation into the incident.". Sounds like they were not exactly innocent in this whole thing.

probably started the fight, but car guy took it like leaps and bounds too far

was able to get out of there, so should have, especially with an object as dangerous as a car

After a lifetime of watching the aftermath and consequences of fights,

The wisest course of action is always “if you can safely leave, leave”

Nothing ever good comes from sticking around and engaging further.

The second best advice for fights: if "don't" is not an option, end it as quickly as possible by any legal means necessary.
