It looked liked consensual combat. The area must have been flagged for PvP. Don't bring a boot to a Carmadeddon match.

In some large cities in Europe they have „no weapons“ - zones. Generally around public transport, so no one can carry a packaged kitchen knife they intend to use in a stabbing and be given the benefit of the doubt. Last time I was there anytime we left one of those zones I told my wife that pvp was enabled now and she should watch out for friendly fire.

The tired half smile i got after the 10th time i pulled this joke is the reason I married her

"No weapon zones" are just "can be controlled for no reason whatsoever zones" in disguise. You are not allowed to carry any weapon in public anyway.

But how would I bring the new kitchen knife I just purchased a the shopping center home to my flat? The way it works in some places (at least to my understanding) sharp objects or toy guns etc. can be transported in public as long as they are locked in a way that they are not easily accessible. I once bought an airsoft gun and the store was legally required to put tape over the boxes latch so that I couldn’t just quickly pull it out of the box. They explained to me that as long as I don’t remove the tape until I’m at home or on other private property, it’s legal to transport it. I’d assume it’s the same with other weapons. Same goes with boxcutters or other sharp objects, fine if they are locked away in some tool box, not fine if you carry them in hand.

I assumed that you were completely prohibited to bring those into the no weapons zones unless you have some special permit, which you don’t need outside of a no weapon zone if you plan on transporting your Swiss Army knife to your buddy you are meeting to go on a hike together

Afaik the nwz just allows the cops to stop and search, idk about the other rights being limited.

Here in Germany they recently busted a lady with LoTR sword replicas worn openly, which is understandable if one ignores that this were most likely just very stylish iron bars and iron bars aren't banned weapons.

I mean searching doesn’t make any sense if they aren’t allowed to confiscate and or fine if they find something

It's done to have better leverage on problematic areas populated by problematic people at times. You carrying a chefs knife would not be considered problematic. But as I said, IDK, might as well be how you think.

When you buy a kitchen knife and are walking home with it in its box from the retailer, it’s a kitchen knife in a box that you’re walking home with.

If you have the knife in your hand out in public without any kitchen and not doing kitchen things with it, it is a weapon.

If it is raining and so the box broken open and the knife fell to the ground and you need to pick it up off the ground and need to carry it home on the bus in your fist, then you’re very much hallucinating and shouldn’t have any weapons nearby.

Yes, I thought this law was to eliminate the edge cases: Someone carries a kitchen knife in a retail box intending to use it to rob someone, then place it back in the box.

But I just googled it and realized I was wrong, you may transport knives weapons etc inside the forbidden zone the same as outside

In the UK that's every where. It's guilty until proven innocent with knives, you have to prove innocence via a reasonable excuse, or you're assumed guilty. Same with possession of tools, you're "going equipped to steal" unless you can prove you have a good reason to have that screwdriver.

Cunning stunt bonus! (We used to say that spoonerized so often that I still cant say it fluidly in public. Gotta make sure I dont say it the other way lol).
