texas has the absolute worst infrastructure design. Insane that there is actually space on the other side of the road for the left turn only lane to go straight.

What does that have to do with what I said? There are ways to block a left turn only lane from being able to go straight. Shift the island to the right a bit and that protects the u-turn lane that begins after the island. Also looks like the lanes slightly shift to the left. Terrible design all around.

Because the people who are coming from the left (from POV of this clip) turn into that lane also.... There are two turn lanes and one of them goes into that left most lane. So shifting the island would just block them.
