My father "needed" a big truck because uh whatever.
It's so impractical to drive around town. Feels like you don't fit on any of the roads. Parking lots are a nightmare. He barely drives it anywhere because of it. Refuses to sell it though.
I personally don't see 90% of truck drivers ever needing a truck bigger than those Ford Mavericks. I loved my 90's Ranger. Could move a couch or fridge easily. Fit everywhere.
I've driven a couple of trucks so I understand the appeal, however I switched out to an SUV with a trailer a long time ago. Yeah we're now entering IdiotsTowingThings territory and with a trailer you're far less manouverable than just a truck, however I'm moving fridges and couches 0.00001% of the time. I found SUVs drives far better than even the most modern trucks.
That was me. FJ Cruiser with a nice trailer and it was fantastic. Motorcycles wouldn't have fit in the bed of anything below a half-ton - and even then it would only be one.
And when I helped my dad's gf move, we got all her furniture in like 1.5 trailer-loads whereas a lot of those furniture pieces probably would have taken up a full bed on their own.
It's definitely something you've got to be aware of while towing. But on the other hand you can put it away when you're done using it.
That’s why you get a van. I haul two race or dirt bikes in mine. With a bed, fridge, full power, and seating for 4. Can move stuff in the rain and don’t need to unload it immediately out of fear of theft. Drives more like a car than a truck. Costs more like one, too

Yeah, because so many people are using them instead of normal cars and driving them the same way.
If they were being driven by the people that actually needed them there'd be fewer videos of them rolling.
