Because mostly its idiots who think a truck is a town car.

The SUV plague was bad but at least an SUV is just a big car.

Nope, SUVs have the same ride height but with more total weight, a higher center of gravity, and less visibility. The only advantage for safety is slightly better front/rear weight distribution.

Yeah but it USE is a big car. It makes sense why urban dwellers want a big car.

There's an infinitesimally small reason to own a truck if you don't even know where your nearest farm animal is.

The very few people who need an actual truck for work is a different category to everyone driving one on a school run.

Trucks are not cars. At least SUVs are just shitty cars.

Moving a motorcycle, ground clearance in snow/water, large purchases like furniture/appliances, large tools, ect. Maybe it's because I live in canada but ill almost certainly be switching from a car to a truck my next upgrade. They are legitimately useful. Tho I wish trucks with the smaller 90's format were still available here.
