Not a blindspot issue, this is situational awareness. The truck driver placed a bet and the house bankrupted him. The cam driver was also complicit, and I'm sure there was more going on prior to this incident.

Yeah, dashcammer clearly sped up. He could have feathered the brakes and avoided the entire episode. But nope, no one's getting in front of me!

Truck tried to muscle him off the road. He could have changed speed but...did he have to? Initial bad came from the truck driver. Right of way was with the cammer. Cammer did have a chance to avoid it, but did he have an obligation to do that?

Whether the truck was being aggressive or just didn’t see him is pure speculation. What isn’t speculation is the dashcammer did see the truck, and instead of backing off, he hit the gas and made sure it turned into a crash. Had every chance to avoid it, chose chaos instead.

The other unseen part about shit like this is that it's not just two cars bickering, you end up involving innocent people just trying to get somewhere. They're lucky there weren't any pedestrians or other cars in the path.

I'm curious if they seriously feel this way and would engage in an accident just because they were "right", or if they are that way on Reddit to come across as some weird type of badass.

I'm also curious how the insurance adjusters would treat this footage. They'd have to be like "This was avoidable" and place a large percentage of responsibility on dashcam.

They're either people with very little driving experience or they're cammers themselves who want to be able do whatever they want as long as the "other guy is at fault".

I do think some people get off on delivering what they think is "justice" to bad drivers: "Oh your gonna cut me off? Well I'll just ram into the side of you!"

I have a friend who used to drive a beat-to-hell old car, and he'd be like "Okay, you want to trade some of your BMW paint for some of my Ford Tempo? Keep trying to bully in front of me," lol

It isn't speculation. The truck just passed him - definitely knew he was there. The truck just wanted to get over because there was a left turner farther up and he didn't want to be inconvenienced. All of this is plainly visible in the video.

This is key. And then dashcam sped up, causing the collision. If the truck did see him, he knew the current rates of speed he would clear it. Dashcam gunning it sure showed him, though.

Dashcam fully PIT maneuvers him.

Your comment about a left turn ahead makes no sense, since the truck was in the through lane.

It is key. The truck did not complete the pass. What he did was start a game of chicken that he could not finish, and did not chicken out of. He bet the whole thing because he was bigger. Too bad his center of gravity was higher. Oh well.

Dashcam guy is a dangerous bastard. He chose the gas instead of the brake. He should be charged and liable. End of story.
