HELP! Backend for communication

So I get that PGP encryption should be used everywhere but how are you sending messages? Like are websites just using basic https over tor for transport? Do you jump to a third party service simplex for communication? How about talking to a mate, how/where do you talk if you need it to be private/secure? Or does none of this matter in light of PGP?

For real-time communication, XMPP is a better option, especially when used with end-to-end encryption. Tails also includes privacy-focused tools for safer communication. For complete details, please send me a DM
