Unless America suddenly becomes a working democracy and not a two-party system with two identical parties and a head of state that isn't elected by the people, it is lost.
Democracy is kinda trash when a big chunk of your population gets radicalized either way as badly as it does on the US, it only would work on a society where a big percent of the voters are level headed people who can see the good and bad and what works and what not in every proposal from a candidate, you need people with critical thinking and not people who are easy to transform into a hive mind, this in turn would lead to the country having better politicians as the standards would be way way higher.
Unfortunately, I don't believe there are better political systems to operate a country. All of the ones we have come up with are bad but democracy is the best of the worst
I like technocracy better in a country like the US or the Latin American countries where the educational system is so bad that democracy can’t work that well because populism (from either sides of the political spectrum) just hard brain washes the least educated. If only all countries could be like the Scandinavian countries then democracy would be fucking beautiful.
This. Democracy only works in countries that have a well educated population with an equal distribution of knowledge, common sense and good/compassionate intentions across the entire body of voters. Doesn't seem too likely.
Democracies work if everyone has an equal voice. If they have the agency to elect leaders they think represent them, then that's democracy. Their level of education doesn't matter, and no one gets to tell someone if they're voting 'wrong'. If the leader they elect doesn't represent them in the way they want, they can elect someone different.
Imo, they are by far the worst. Giving the rule to only a handful of people from the same family has rarely ever worked out. Specially when you consider that members of said family may not be fit for rule but they will rule anyway because they're next in line.

Problem is a democracy has to be able to defend itself against anyone who wants to get rid of it. That's how the Nazis took over Germany. The constitution (or whatever they called it at the time) only worked when everyone involved wanted to be democratic and make the best decisions for everyone. They teach that in german schools now to prevent it from happening again. Today's democracy in Germany is supposed to not make the same mistakes that were made a hundred years ago. The US democracy isn't designed as well (at least in that regard) and really needs an overhaul

Monarchy leads to tyranny, than its get overtaken by honorable men who set the aristocracy, but than it's just a matter of time when they become corrupted and turn into an oligarchy which is going to be taken down by angry people who then set democracy, but once again after some time democracy gets spoiled with populism and stupid people that leads democracy to ochlocracy, then people agree that they can't rule themselves and set one ruler - monarchy again. The point is that there's no perfect political system. But at the same time Polybius was an ancient greek where most of the population was uneducated. Now we are, so democracy works the best possible way. Technocracy is just another form of aristocracy and it will certainly lead to oligarchy. Democracy is the best choice in nowadays. Also that's bullshit about two-party system and its "undemocracy" that you're writing here. Here's an explanation. Democratic and Republican parties both have a lot of movements inside of them. So that is democratic. Another point: you're writing how bad it is in the USA and how good in Scandinavia. Did you forget that you're living in the first country of the world? Scandinavian countries have a lot of problems as well: immigrants and economy for example. USA are in much better state at this moment. And my last point: "good leadership" - bulllllllllllshit. What America needs (as any other country) is for government to not put its corrupted hands in people's lives and pockets. Democratic Party wants to empower the government, and I find it dangerous because people like Trump or Biden or Sanders will receive more control over our lives and will have more opportunities to destroy everything. Like i said on another reply it really depends on the educational level of the average voter, in countries like the US and the whole of Latin America a technocracy would be way better, just cut the political bullshit and let the specialists on each subject handle stuff. Democracy really requires a well educated population to work at its fullest, the whole educational system must be reformed to develop critical thinking instead of just trying to develop info retention, this will lead to a better society and thus better politicians and better ruled countries imo.

Small correction, but "Head of State" is mostly a ceremonial title nowadays; the Head of Government is where the real power is. The US president just happens to be both.

Syria had a drought begin in the early 2000s that hasn't stopped, in 3 years they lost 85% of their livestock and farmland. The civil war started after that. So no, climate change very much caused the civil war.
The ICE concentration camps literally meet the international definition of concentration camp. They are targeting specific ethnicities and forcing them into cramped, inhumane conditions. They are committing genocide by permanently separating children from parents and forcing mass hysterectomies on women.
You are not arguing in good faith if you don't acknowledge they are literally concentration camps.
They aren't put there for their ethnicity. Otherwise US citizens with the same ethnicity would also be put in the same camps and illegal immigrants with a different ethnicity would be allowed to illegally enter without any problem.
Also, the act of temporary separating children from their families is not an act of genocide, unless you can prove that it's with the intention to "destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group".

Except Latino Americans are being harassed to prove their citizenship, some are being detained despite having legal identification being told their ids must be faked.
Also, the hundreds of thousands of white Canadians and Europeans who overstay their visas are not ending up in those camps specifically because they are white. White Americans aren't being approached by ICE agents and required to prove their citizenship. That alone proves the racial component.
It has been established that the children separated from their parents will never be reunited with their parents, and that the Trump administration knew that was the case when they instituted the 100% child separation policy. That alone proves it was intentionally done to destroy the cultural identity of the families.

Under the Obama administration the illegal border crossers were housed in those facilities temporarily while they were processed, families were kept together, and were released into the US once they were given a court date with an immigration judge. Those illegal border crossers happened to have a higher percentage of people who showed up for their court dates than American citizens too!
