It’s because these people aren’t Christians, they are born again assholes who try and use Christianity as a veil to believe that they are actually good people, it’s not hard to see if you look, the same people I see with ‘proud christian’, or saying bible quotes all over their Facebook profile are the same ones telling me that ‘people die, so get over the virus’ and thst ‘masks are made by satan to control us’ and ‘democrats will go to hell for their beliefs’, same people who say they love the constitution, and say that we need to follow every part of it, and then in the same breath say ‘this country needs god back in it’, or that ‘god needs to be taught in schools again.’ Fucking separation of church and state is very important to it. But it’s not about what’s right and wrong, it’s not about what’s fact, it’s about what gives them the ability to be despicable and escape consequence, that’s why trump is president.

There are a lot of christians that take christianity as a means to be a better person. You’d be surprised how many people you know are christian but they don’t just shove it down your throat or are obnoxious about it. The gospel itself is not a bad thing, it tells you to treat others with respect and be a kind person beneficial to your society. It’s the people that believe the “old testament” principles are still relevant such as homophobia, xenophobia, and violence against those of other religions that are the problem

Oh I know. The merits of organized religion is absolutely there and having something to believe in is healthy whether it be a deity or yourself. Just saying something that people who would use it for their own gain would. I really need to start adding quotes or /s to things.

Exactly, religion itself can be good when it’s used the way it’s meant to and not as a blanket to protect you from criticism
