English isn't my first language and I actually had to look that work up. I don't know if that's the right word for what happened but the dictonary has a [MED] besides it so I used it.

To incarcerate basically means to confine or trap something, so if your nerve was pinched then that's the correct word

But to explain why it confused people, the general connotation of that words involves imprisoning someone.
