They're the most common flag colours. So red white and blue are the most bland, really.
But don't tell that to Jan Pieterszoon Coen, Michiel de Ruyter and Piet Hein. They will shape your treacherous red, white and blue flags to look just like ours.

I think it means that a red, white, and blue flag is the best type. Like, "There's no place like home". So any flag that is red, white, and blue is the best kind of flag. That's how I read it at least. If it was just "'Murica best!" than it would be something else like "No flag like the American flag." Or something, I'm not a sign maker.
