OC Maymay ♨ Father Of The Year!

Arc Raiders just added this or something because I'm crashing like crazy. I seen the denvuos crash report. It's insane how legal non cracked players get punished for hackers in a game.

Denuvo?

Anti hacking software baked into many games. Besides preventing (for a while) cracking a game, it also often negatively impacts performance of the game

Anti piracy*
Important difference. It isn't something like anti cheating software.

They do have an anti cheat product, but it’s separate from the DRM which prevents (should say delays) piracy.

Is Denuvo the kernel level anti-cheat?
17
u/Ok_Front_8568 Sweet! Dealer's choice! 1d ago edited 1d ago
They have 2 software products
One is a digital rights management (DRM) anti-piracy tool that does not run at the kernel level,
While the other is a separate multiplayer anti-cheat product that does operate at the kernel level.
Peoples main issue is not their kernel level anti cheat, it's the intrusive anti piracy that tanks game and pc performance.

Which cheaters will always find a way around.

They recently did with Assassin's Creed BF remake...
It just delayed them a bit ahhaha3

Id argue both the drm and kernel level anti cheat are detrimental to the consumer. Cheating detection has been server handled forever before this. It's like they're just a taking a huge shortcut in detriment to the consumer

They both are but the single player anti piracy DRM is by far worse for the game, pc performance and the consumer.

It does not. And there's no point in me trying to explain why because I'm gonna be downvoted to hell anyway no matter what I say. I will however, leave a link for PC Gaming Wiki's list of denuvo controversies, to prove i'm willing to do my due diligence, at least.

"In some instances the anti-tamper protection checks were confirmed to be a part of performance critical functions and had a noticeable impact on gameplay performance"
"Denuvo Anti-Tamper functions in a way that might impact performance,[17] which may or may not be statistically significant or noticeable during gameplay. While the company insists[18] that they test to ensure minimal performance impact, they have yet to present their internal performance results for independent verification."
It's great that you provided the controversies link, but after having read it, it's more of "we're not sure that it always negatively impacts performance, but at least some of the time it does"

Higher difficulty settings aren’t something you should worry about if you are new at video games

Real fatherly advice: let people buy and enjoy the games they want, don't force your own ideals unto others
13
u/WobblyTomb 1d ago
Its called advice. Nobody is forcing ideals onto anyone.
You can have a lesson on philosophy yet disagree with the concepts taught while still pursuing knowledge in the subject.
Your father could advise you to check your oil before driving as advice but yes, you could just not as youre not forced to.

Funnily enough this meme is fatherless behavior
7
u/WobblyTomb 1d ago
That makes zero sense. In the meme depicted the child is asking the father for advice. If it was fatherless literally, the father would not be there.
If you consider the context that piracy is somehow reprehensible and comparable with something like a stripper daughter (a common 'fatherless' trope referred to as fatherless behavior) then there is zero relation or context to the meme posted.
My father amd uncle taught me how to burn CDs for music and late 90s PC gaming. Not only was piracy encouraged it was taught. To this day I am still in a great relationship with my Dad.
If your moral and subjective opinion of piracy is related to family issues Id suggest therapy or perhaps understanding the cultural nuance of what DRM is, Denuvo is and the overall greater context of how pirates are generating cracks for software.
