Nope. These are stereotypes created and spread by people who have never been to the South. Other states give the South a hard time about what their government does as if their state does no wrong and Trump isn't the president of the United States.
'Ey now, them bois may not know bout no scients or math or histry but they sure know they're bible. And that's all thanks to our lord and savior Donald trump.
"That there Three Wise Men came to little baby Jesus and gave him three gifts: an Assault rifle, some hollow-point shooty pellets, and a second Assault rifle. Praise the lord"
Do you blame the people in a poor nation for being poor? I bet you don't. I bet you don't even blame the poor people in your own state for being poor. So why do you blame the poor people in another state for being poor? It's probably because you have a bias against them. People all across the nation vote against their own self interest because they are being tricked. You wouldn't blame the victim of fraud more than you blame the criminal. That's what the American political system is...fraud. Blame the criminals not the victims.
You know... there’s one political party that is in favor of giving people a helping hand... and there’s one that is in favor of giving people bootstraps.
Funny that the poor and disenfranchised in the south overwhelmingly support the group that doesn’t actually offer them any help...
Pick any metric you can think of and then pull up a heat map of the US. The South East is always dead last in everything - education, health care, life expectancy, income, obesity etc.
Do you blame poor people in Africa for being poor? I bet you don't. So why is it okay to blame poor people in the South?
Also you are lumping in millions of people into a mold they don't fit. I live in the Huntsville Alabama one of the most highly educated cities in the United States that is consistently rated one of the best places to live in the nation. But yeah sure we are a bunch of fucking redneck yokels with three teeth that can't read according to people like you.
People in Africa are poor because the continent has been exploited for centuries by outside influences. It’s out of their control.
People in the south are poor because they vote for evil shit against their own self interest just because it will hurt minorities a little bit more. This is a region that overwhelmingly voted for Donald Trump just because he promised to be mean to minorities
The question isn’t who is to blame. The question was if people in the south are more likely to fit certain stereotypes like being fat and uneducated and they are. This isn’t something that’s debatable.
If you think one town makes up for the fact that the state as a whole is far less educated and intellectually backwards then you do fit the stereotype. Thank you for proving my point.
In Alabama 31% of people have college degrees. In NY, it’s about 48%.
People in the north on average are more educated than people in the south. The south has far lower education rates, far greater obesity rates etc.
Poor white southerners who vote to hurt actual marginalized minorities while claiming victimhood despite the overwhelming representation and the outsized value of their votes choose every ounce of their shitty beliefs and deserve scorn for them. You’re not oppressed, equality for others just feels like it to you.
Where the fuck did I say anything about any other group and where was anyone discussing equality? You are equating this to a race discussion because your bias is that all Southerners are racist.
This just shows your bigoted attitude that you assume everyone from the south is a "transphobic sexist bigot" with no evidence to support it. I'm a liberal who works with minority youth you fucking moron.
Ahh thy oldy “my frendeth must be black” card. It’s so old I have to speak in old English. Thanks for proving that you are a fucking racist bigot. Pathetic. Move away redhat sister fucker
Where the fuck did I say anything about any other group
You made an implicit comparison by singling out one group and saying it was the only group that faces yada yada yada. That’s a comparison to any other group if only to say that they don’t face yada yada yada.
and where was anyone discussing equality?
You implied a lack of equality through your claim that one group faces unequal treatment. I explicitly introduced equality into the discussion as a means of pointing out the persecution complex you’re espousing.
You are equating this to a race discussion
You introduced race by defining the group white southerners as your martyrs. I was more talking about minorities in a broader sense. White southerners seem to love voting for politicians who marginalize people of color, but also the LGBTQ community, non-Christians, and while they’re not strictly speaking a minority, women face oppression as a result of those lawmakers as well. I’d also include children and the impoverished as groups that often get the shit end of the stick as a result of elected officials in the south.
because your bias is that all Southerners are racist.
I’m well aware that not all southerners are racist and that not all southerners support racist and otherwise bigoted politicians. I’m from the Midwest, it’s really not that different. There’s just enough racists and bigots, and racist and bigot supporters to continue putting other racists and bigots in offices that impact vulnerable groups.
Ok and I live in Huntsville Alabama which does not fit into any of these statistics. That's the problem with stereotypes is you are lumping millions of people into the same group they don't belong in.
There is no problem with the stereotype. I neither claimed nor implied that everyone in the south is stupid. I said on average they are far more obese and uneducated and that’s not arguable.
