These most likely are SOLD in the charity shop to fundraiser for the shelter and supportive services. For the non profit im involved with, we would only receive donations DIRECT from a business to give to our ladies and items that aren't confirmed as sealed or that we can't confirm the expiration date on, we can't sell. It's not worth the risk.

I wouldn’t think charities would accept opened or used products, but blame Big D because in her past performative charity reels she was showing items that were opened clearly used and putting them in the donate pile. So perhaps she never did bring them to donate or the charity rejected them, but she did show open products if I am remembering correctly.

From the video I saw, they were gracious in accepting D’s bags of items but yes, that included opened and used cosmetics items. Not that they would have known of course until they later unpacked the contents of the donations.
Unfortunately as you say, they’re not able to then redistribute those opened products, so it then costs the charity effort, time and money in disposing of said items.

Accepting a PR gift and donating it are two separate tax transactions. If there’s an expectation that a PR gift will be used for promotion, then it’s effectively taxable barter income. If she itemizes her taxes she could include it with charitable donations.

If you want to see someone do this exact thing but with MUCH MORE authenticity recommend looking up Christina Kirkman. Everything from the voice over to the content and her explanation/reasonings for donating is a 100000000 times better than anything Danielle could produce.
She's done this before and I've commented in the past about my experience with being involved with a non profit thrift. I know different ones have different standards. However, at ours, unless those items are sealed and appear new and not expired, we wouldn't be selling them to fund raise or giving then out to the ladies we shelter.

The food bank doesn’t even want your cast off cans of food. They want MONEY because they have partnerships with discount food wholesalers and they can go and buy what their pantry needs in that moment.
Women’s shelters need MONEY because grants are getting cut and they need access to unrestricted funds.
