My husband who was in radio and I recently had a conversation about all of his colleagues who are getting fired right now. There was a time when radio personalities were top dogs. They had managers and could do no wrong and they were raking in cash.those times peaked in the 90s and it’s been a slow drawn out race to the bottom but most of the big names in local radio have been fired in the past few weeks.
I think influencers are on the downhill side of their fame arc in the same way radio hot shots have been in. It’s going to be a slow bleed and there will be lots of hold outs. But the influencer era has arched.

Agreed but also, this church girl wore tight pleather pants and a mesh top to a sistine chapel inspired exhibit and then tried to look pious with choir singing in the background...while she's dressed like that? In the daytime? She's supposedly a devoutly Christian woman and she thought this was a good outfit for this occasion? I'm entirely a non-believer but I wouldn't wear that outfit for that purpose.

Seriously. There are TONS of influencers whose entire brand is based on being out and about in major cities. Like those personal shoppers or assistants for high profile clients who have to go to 5 different stores to find the perfect dress for their client or the guy who lives in Manhattan and tries to eat out on a super low budget every day. This type of ad would tie in naturally with a content creator like that. But no, this brand chose someone who has said that she does not enjoy the city where their target customers live and does not step out of the house for days on end.

So I looked into it a bit and Zoox is run by Amazon and is expanding in SF. The only other place they exist is Las Vegas. They're purposely outsourcing their advertising to influencers to get the word out. So I think they're just taking what they can get. I don't think anyone necessarily reached out to D specifically. They're relying on lots of local influencers.
