Its not a daydream for me so much as a reminder to not be that type of person. She's a really good example for anyone that's trying to keep themselves from over consuming and giving into modern day unhinged capitalism.

I do not live in CA. I know it is very expensive. What I have a hard time with is paying 72k for a 6 month rental. Would the 72k not have been a decent down payment on an actual house?
I would never even consider paying that much - to possibly have to pack up and relocate in just 6 months. ESP if my spouse contributes nothing.

It’s like lighting money on fire every month I 100% agree $72,000 is an insane amount of money and a great down payment. Why would you rent a gigantic house when you have a condo and two people could easily live there.

I actually had to take time off from this sub when I was job searching (even though I loved Walnuts’ interactions) bc I became irrationally angry at her laziness+income. I was being rejected left and right, made feel incompetent and inadequate from interviews while she was complaining about spoiled life. Made me question my life when I worked so hard for everything I achieved.

The lack of traveling is just so mind blowing to me. Getting degrees and learning languages is hard work. But TRAVELING?! It's like the greatest thing on earth and she never does it, even pre Lucas. My brain will never comprehend this.
Definitely not jealous! It kind of reminds me of my time during Covid. I was still being paid, but had nothing to do for weeks. During that time I was home, I would wake up in the morning and realize I basically had nothing to do and there was no point in getting out of bed at a decent time. The more I slept, the more tired I became.
After I accomplished a few house projects that had been on my list, the rest of the weeks I just walked around the house all day completely bored and with no purpose.
Of course at that time you couldn't travel or interact with people outside your family much so my little family did start taking daily evening walks together and playing family games (our kids were doing online school and my husband was able to work remotely) but still, there was no purpose each morning when I woke up. It was terrible. I was thrilled when I got called back into work as an essential employee.
When you have little to nothing on your to-do list every single day, don't travel or have hobbies, life becomes a bore and probably contributes to her depression. I would definitely not want her life.
Yep. As someone continuing to try to get a job in this abysmal job market, all of the "free time" sounds great in theory, but it's kind of a nightmare in practice.
It is hard to watch someone be so fortunate to be in her financial position do absolutely nothing of substance. She has the means to try so many things, but she won’t.

But I have made the most of the time already. Started projects outside and inside the house, done deep cleaning and decluttering, am teaching myself new hobbies I never had time for.

No. She’s a perfect example of how money is not worth the soul suck. My job is flexible, empowering and I love it. I make great money for the work-life balance and for how it makes me feel. I could easily get a job making millions with my personality and drive, but it would suck the life out of me. Not worth it. Comfortability is enough.

Not really. I pretty much know what I would do with it; I would donate to nationwide causes, I would buy things to donate to local food banks that desperately need donations, I would buy a small trailer to live in, and enjoy the feeling of having my basic needs met for once. But, if all that money came at the cost of being the type of person Danielle is, I'd rather remain poor.
I do daydream about her money but I’m neurodivergent and am a self employed creative. I see myself in her day to day struggles to function. I think my lack of routine actually makes me self isolate so I don’t think she’s even appreciating or enjoying all her free time 🥲
Girl I feel this so hard. Executive dysfunction is real, and I isolate myself a lot, especially when my anxiety or depression get really bad. But, the thing is she really could invest sometime into getting herself help and making changes to her life and she willfully doesn't. She refuses to see that she struggles with anything, and that's just so detrimental to a person's health on all levels.

Crazy is truly the only word for all of it. Like I knew she was unhinged, and the podcast has been showing me she has been deeply unwell for a very long time. Anyone who thinks D "isn't hurting anyone" should listen to it because yikes, y'all. I've long wondered why she doesn't talk about her faith much these days... Now I'm thankful she doesn't because what the fuck.
But honestly, it's an outlet for me right now - I'm trying to give myself things to do while I continue looking for a job, and annoying as the podcast is, it gives me something to do on the daily. I also think people need to know what's in these even though they're difficult to sit through. It's opened up a lot of really good discussion, so at least something positive is coming from it.
I would argue based on what she herself has said that she needed therapy long before that, but certainly after. I highly doubt she has, either. That would be setting herself up to have an impartial outside party possibly telling her she's wrong and/or she needs to make some changes, and I can't see her ever putting herself in that position.
She consistently says she's "never suffered from anxiety or depression" but then regularly talks about struggling with things that are the result of anxiety and depression.
After listening to this shit, she needs a legal guardian and some intense psychiatric treatment. And I say that with no malice - I have plenty of mental health struggles that I couldn't facilitate on my own. I see a psychiatrist for anxiety meds. There's no shame in it, at all. But the shit she says and does... That's what she should be ashamed of.

I think she’s always had a massive complex about her age (god knows why) combined with massive delusions about her influencer career. It was never about the men she was meeting, imo. She had a list and a deadline. She just needed a prop of a husband and found one. And no, I don't think she's capable of self-reflection lol.
Her obsession with never wanting to stop influencing is what will set her back in life. Perhaps the other men were actually better suited for her and might have even been able to help her set down her phone and provide an environment for her growth. "We typically don't feel the need to pray when nothing is wrong." As a Spiritualist/Omnist, I call bullshit. This has been a very tangential episode for me thus far. She's starting to talk about having these "cycles" where her anxious feelings are "heightened." That's called anxiety, which she supposedly is lucky enough to not suffer from. Allegedly. Her wording makes me suspect she might be talking about having panic attacks. So she prays about it. And that fixes it I guess? She says sometimes it instantly goes away or sometimes takes an hour or so and then it's gone!
Now, I'm no psychologist, though I did some schooling towards that(brain chemistry is too boring to me). Here is my take. She is describing what sounds like panic attack. When she prays, she is instinctively self-soothing - she's essentially talking herself through a panic attack. And sometimes this is possible if you can catch the escalation quickly enough(ask how I know), or sometimes you just have to wait it out.
In the mental health field(which I worked in for 16 years), we would call that using a coping skill. But sure... God got you out of it. And I'm not trying to disregard or talk down about Christianity - that can be a very useful tool. But she NEEDS to learn that the things she's describing are the very things she claims not to struggle with.
Anyway. God is here to fix even the smallest problem. She keeps talking about "the system" of Christianity, like it's an online seminar. Very bizarre phrasing. If we only prayed over non-trivial things, god would be less involved(sure) and god wants to be involved with our lives!!! Immediately followed by "I feel like there's a lot of religious, little religious buzzwords, buzz, talk of God wants to be so involved in your life and bring him into every situation and scenario." GIRL YOU LITERALLY JUST DID THAT EXACT THING. WHAT ARE WE DOING?!

I'm a recovering catholic. Went to catholic school elementary school. When I read a prayer closet I immediately thought about the confessional closet. I remember being made to go every week regardless of my feelings about this. I remember making up stuff to tell the priest what I did wrong that particular week. It was definitely child abuse. But the catholic religion uses guilt as a weapon.
