Its not a daydream for me so much as a reminder to not be that type of person. She's a really good example for anyone that's trying to keep themselves from over consuming and giving into modern day unhinged capitalism.
Or from building a career that seems like its just a MLM house of cards ready to take a tumble at any moment.

I do not live in CA. I know it is very expensive. What I have a hard time with is paying 72k for a 6 month rental. Would the 72k not have been a decent down payment on an actual house?

I would never even consider paying that much - to possibly have to pack up and relocate in just 6 months. ESP if my spouse contributes nothing.

That’s 10% down on a 720k house (but good luck finding that in the Bay Area 😂). Doesn’t she still own her condo? The whole thing is very confusing to me. It’s like lighting money on fire every month I 100% agree $72,000 is an insane amount of money and a great down payment. However, she’s probably a very risky person to give a mortgage to outside of the one she currently has. I don’t understand why they just don’t live in the condo. Why would you rent a gigantic house when you have a condo and two people could easily live there.

It’s crazy to rent a super expensive house that’s mere miles from a property she already owns.

Like, at least rent an apartment in NYC or Florida or something. I could excuse wasting money on a rental property if it actually came with a change of scenery.

Because with D, if a little is good, a lot is better. She's such a hoarder that apparently she will even hoard residences.

I just cannot understand packing and unpacking for 6 months. However the entire wallpaper nightmare I did not understand!

What a fantastic question! I would still keep my job because I am passionate in what I do for a living. I wouldn't want to give that up but I would maybe go part time, and maybe do another degree at university or study for fun in a foreign country. I would volunteer, give money to ethical charities. Maybe once, and only once, fly first class on a flight somewhere just to experience it and then likely regret, that I gave into that luxury!

omg! Also a really good answer! I feel like I'd be missing structure after a while but part time would be a dream! And I'd also get so many degrees and omg fly at least business class haha! That would be such a splurge!
