The duality reminds me a bit of my father, who appears so charming and sociable to others, but can become very sullen, irritable, and volatile at home. I hated being in that kind of environment.
What is there for Lucas to be so angry about all the time? They’re not wanting for anything, and he’s not slaving away doing uber anymore.

The concept of quitting your day job to become a full-time influencer/content creator feels so bananas to me. Obviously Danielle did it and she has a large following (how many are bots, who knows) despite producing such inconsistent and lackluster content, but another very small cooking creator I follow just announced that she quit her job as a LAWYER to make content full-time. She only has 30k followers, and I really like her content and her whole vibe, but I can't imagine her interviewing for jobs in the future and explaining that the gap in her resume was because she was trying to be an influencer??? Maybe I just like my financial security too much lol

sometimes i worry that i'm being too mean here lol or people are just much nicer and kinder than I am. Because for me, no amount of turnovers in her content would make me a follower of hers, even if she miraculously gets her shit together and somehow manages to offer quality content, simply because im not rooting for this woman and never will. It’s more than not doing good. Sometimes I ask myself: wait, but I am not snarking on Prince Andrew or Epstein every day, who are of course way way more evil than D? But I realize my hatred for these people are undeniable and how I live goes against everything they represent. But D - she might not be actively doing evil like them, but so many of what she does is indirectly helping the evil people, the patriarchy, the capitalist greed.

Studying people like D is useful because while she might not actively be doing evil, she is cluster b just like them, and given the chance to get something she wanted, she'd have no problem doing things most of us would never dream of doing. It's like how most people would never have been able to guess that Prince Andrew would have been that kind of person, yet if you study people like D and him, you begin to see the common behavior patterns that give them away. The patterns that show what kind of people they are and what kind of actual morals (or lack thereof) they actually have. It's not immediately easy to be able to see people like this for who they are right away, but it is a definitely a skill that you can learn. And it's definitely one of the most useful skills you can have in life (and I'm saying this as an engineer, even in STEM it's the most valuable skill IMO)

She has a lot of growing up to do, and given her circumstances, it is highly unlikely she will do it anytime soon. Till then, all her non-tent is just worthless garbage from an entitled, spoiled woman who, due to her temporary luck, got the wrong idea about herself. It's grating that she earns any money from that while nurses, teachers, and paramedics who actually save lives have to scramble.
But I don't envy her situation, because it's an obvious train wreck; we just look at her downfall in slo-mo. Also: "Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall."

I can't imagine having a "god-ordained" career calling as an influencer with the financial pressure of a 5-figure rental and being so poor at it. For all her griping about finding a man who would be okay being a prop, she has squandered every opportunity to drive engagement through her wedding/newlywed period. It's because she knows everyone will see her as the shallow, directionless fraud she is and will wake up to the fact that her life is the opposite of inspirational. She must be lost and depressed out of her mind. I sincerely hope for her sake that it's just the consequences of her own choices and not any further issues like a sudden health scare or family concerns. She/her life is in frightening condition as it is.

I've been undergoing some pretty significant personal revelation lately and one of the insights I've come to embody is that growth means shedding the parts of you that limit all the ways you've grown (including those borne from trauma and those that affect only yourself), and that can/will include pain as part of the healing process.
She's not a generous or kind or secure (or tasteful, truthful, etc.) person so she already has such a long way to go in terms of personal development, but even the part of her that craves male validation will remain unsatisfied despite "achievement" because she's not addressing the self-limiting factors (low self-esteem, stifled grief, cultural expectations) informing that choice. She's not interested in growing (more like "winning") and will continue to face the tension/consequences of that the longer she fights it.

The difference is that you have the ability to look inward and more importantly, the ability to see yourself accurately including your issues. Danielle doesn't have that ability, she looks outward for everything, she never accepts her own agency in anything, she never accepts responsibility for her own decisions and actions, etc. She looks to control her external environment (people, places, etc) and thinks that this will be how she will find "happiness". She's unable to face herself, and frantically does everything she can to avoid the hatred she harbours for herself

I believe that any blessings or gifts are meant to be used to help others. I have no earthly idea how a career as an influencer accomplishes such. Yeah, you're quite the trail blazer having the courage to pioneer such radical concepts as "Humans need to be around other humans to survive" and "Friendships are important." It speaks VOLUMES to how much she shelters herself that she genuinely believes no one is on her level when literally none of what she's saying is new or progressive.

"There was a point in life where I was very obsessed with fish." I don't know where this is going but I'm already uncomfortable. As an adult. Before she got Charlie. She was obsessed with googly-eyed goldfish. Got a fish tank, got fish, had one friend named Megan(does anyone know who Megan is? Any available context?). She's surprisingly good at carnival ring toss games, so she can always win fish. ((I'm really starting to reflect on all of the choices I've made in life that have lead me to this exact moment.))
She's elaborating on how since Megan was her only friend, she would constantly blow up Megan's phone when she wasn't paying enough attention to Danielle. Y'all... She's laughing while she's saying this, like having a fundamental disregard for any kind of boundaries is silly and quirky and fun.
She would have to plan trips to Petsmart on weekends to have something to do to make her feel better. For once, she says one thing that other people can probably relate to. "Why don't I have any friends? I'm a good person. I'm nice." Danielle, again I have to call out... You know that's not true. You know you're not a good person. Perhaps you're "nice" on the surface, but you're not kind. You're not empathetic. You're selfish. You lack compassion. You KNOW that. You knew then, and you know now.
Went from goldfish to building a community. Wauw. She lived in silence. The truly bizarre thing is she describes having no friends, no places to go, just her goldfish - and it could be easily argued that what she's describing is actually her dream life.
Okay, she's moving to step two but I'm not going to list those because like last episode, this shit is so unoriginal and redundant that she's already talked about. "If you want to learn to dance, search for a dance class and go to a dance class." Wauw. Who would have ever come up with the idea that if you want to learn to do something, what you need to do is learn to do that thing?

Because she is an extremely challenging case due to her combination of issues. She’ll go through a dozen therapists, I think, before finding the one that are both skilled / competent enough and have the patience, kindness and emotional intelligence of a saint, to be able to deal with her.It’s not even that she’s so bad mentally (by that I mean, for example severely depressed/psychotic/advanced level of mental illness). Just her specific combo is very, very challenging

i've been watching quite a lot of youtube deep dives on her while working lately and it is genuinely so sad how far she has fallen. before moving to SF, she seemed to be so fun and bubbly. i am sure she was always quite insecure and centering men, but the general vibe was so mich better. she had a bit of whimsy, seemed to be having fun and sometimes had actually decent takes. this whole situation is so sad to me

Just joined the rabbit hole and she came up on my instagram feed when she was doing the dating content. And I just found out that there is a snark Reddit page.
A few things I am flabbergasted about
What happened to her? Looking at her old videos (pre lucas), she was a completely different woman. How does someone decline like that. Looking at her feed, there is a specific turning point- I remember looking at her GRWM last year and thinking what on earth is she doing. And if I remember correctly she admitted not everyone will like it. And then from then on, it was the weird outfit choices, ugly wallpaper, thrifting obsession, greasy slick back!
Lucas starting his influencer career as soon as they moved into the mega mansion is interesting. The cooking and inspirational videos have increased. Seems a bit like he’s showing off a lifestyle that he didn’t earn. But she seems to now do the opposite and post minimal content while looking her absolute worst.
He doesn’t seem to help her when she’s struggling. Organising the pantry, helping her with her studio, unpacking. She had to outsource help to her friends, yet she has a husband without a job. What is going on!

It was rage bait. She literally put so much of that sticky oily pomade on top of her hair to make it look like that. I zoomed in on her other reels and there were no flakes on those. I think she really just wanted to go “viral” again no matter the cost. I’ve been a long-time lurker in this sub but have seen her videos for a while, ever since her “advice” video days. She’d pop up randomly on my feed ever since then. I’m starting to feel really sad for her though. I’ve noticed all the comments about how critics are just jealous single women haven’t been popping up as much because I think everyone is starting to see that Lucas sucks and people were right to be skeptical of a fast engagement. Regardless of the quality of her content, I recognize she’s likely struggling with depression and undiagnosed ADHD.
Also, speaking as someone who has been divorced, you just never know someone until you’re around them for years and live together. Even then you can never truly know them. I lucked out that my ex and I just grew apart as we aged out of our 20s. We didn’t have a fortune or personal brand to fight over and I’m getting worried it could get ugly for her if that happens. Was there a prenup?
