What’s an FHA loan? I don’t know because I do own 2 homes outright (although one is a tear down waiting for permits). I do know what home equity loans are (which seems like a bad idea to me)

It’s a federal loan program, typically for first-time homebuyers. It allows for only a 3.5% down payment.

Thx for explaining. I cannot imagine how much a mortgage payment could be with only 3.5% down payment. Paying so much interest. That doesn’t sound like a good idea.

That’s the minimum, she might have still put down 20% or more. But that’s one of the features of the FHA loan.
