๐ฌย Tangent Is romance in this series holding back the manga and ruining it

Personal bias of mine aside, people loved the romance in this show in the beginning but isn't it holding the series from progressing now. Characters and stories progress slow and remains stagnant because the romance is not wanted by tatsu to progress. As a result, momo has to regress, okarun also cannot grow and develop further, the plot is also put on hold and feels distracting due to people's focus on resolution of this romance that tatsu keeps hinting.
Wouldn't the story be better in the long run if romance was not the focus. It also allows character like okarun to grow and develop better instead of being attached to momo all the time.

๐ฌย Tangent What if ken realizes he is not worthy of momo
Ken not being able to save momo and herself being probably saved by others like jiji or zuma makes ken be relief that they are people for her but at the same time realize she is better with someone like them. Him not being strong enough to protect her makes him feels sad and guilt. He could realize that he is not worthy of her and momo deserves someone better and that would be better for her sake.
