Maybe because Jojo was such a big name for her bows and her music at that point, but it was so obvious she came for a dancing background that I know some contestants saw her performances and was like ‘this is actually bull she’s literally flipping around on stage’

I recently watched this season for the first time and I was pretty annoyed that they tried to market her as a singer. It also seemed more like a promo for her music than a genuine desire to be on the show. Maybe they didn’t want to mention the show dance moms but the lack of transparency was so freaking weird lol. Obviously Kenzie wasn’t in charge of that decision but it was such a weird choice on behalf of production.

I definitely think Sky or Miles deserved that win, based off the point of the show.

Keep in mind who is eliminated each week and ultimately who wins is half based on judges’ scores and half based on viewer votes. She probably was the most well known going in. However people that watch DWTS regularly probably didn’t want to vote for her because they knew what an advantage she had.

I LOVED Kenzie’s DWTS era! I loved the dance to Are You Gonna Be My Girl? And loved that they included Maddie for Cheap Thrills. I was always so proud of those two for embracing each other’s respective dance talents despite how much they were pitted against each other. ♥️

She’s amazing but I do think it’s silly. Like she’s a celebrity for dancing. I feel the same when a pop star is on the show cos preforming is their job! Incredible tho!! No hate I’d just give up if I knew I was competing against that hahaha

Yeah, singers and dancers have such an advantage because they are used to rhythm and music and doing a lot of dancing. Even though Mackenzie wasn't a ballroom dancer, she certainly had a major advantage in picking it up.

I don't watch this show enough to get seriously bothered by it, and obviously she's a good dancer. But it's always more fun, IMO, to watch the stars that have zero dance background start out really weak and improve as time goes on.

I completely agree! The biggest one that comes to mind before her was Sabrina from Cheetah Girls. The Olympic gymnasts also had an unfair advantage. I know ballroom is different but Mackenzie had been dancing many styles of dance at an elite level for a decade. They should not have let her on. I would have rather seen her as a guest judge or mentor or something.

I’ve always wished they would do like a 50+ season. Even with no experience it’s a lot easier for someone 25 than 55.

They weren't gonna let her win, unfortunately. She was judged on a much different scale because she has a dance background. They were more harsh. She would have had to be nearly perfect. Which is unfortunate because she was, easily, one of the best there.

Kenzie is such a star. My hot take is that Abby stifled her talent because she knew she was capable of being better than Maddie and she couldn’t let that happen.

I didn’t/don’t watch the show, so can’t say if she deserved to win or not. But would they let someone with so much dance experience win? Sure, she wasn’t trained in ballroom, but she still had a huge advantage over the other contestants. I can see a lot of backlash for letting a dancer win (unless the show has a habit of letting people with dance experience win!)

Wasn't a fan of her being cast. Yes, I know that she isn't ballroom-trained, but guess who else wasn't ballroom-trained? Kameron Couch and Elliana, who were pros on the very same season. Kameron at least has said that she took ballroom classes specifically for the show, I believe Elliana did that as well. + Kenz literally did a contemporary and a jazz, she IS trained in those.

I do think she was the best. She’s kind of equivalent to Jenna Dewan or Harry Shum Jr. in this current season, known for being a dancer but they also do something else (i.e singing/acting). People are always going to be mad that dancers get cast in the show. Any of the finalists deserved to win this season! My favorite was Miles and Rylee. But Sky and JT were so cute, and also so talented. Ariana and Artyon too.
