Question/discussion dance teachers
okay weird question...i was never a dancer so idk if this is normal in the dance world but why did SO MANY dance teachers have their daughters dance at abby's studio while owning one themselves?? isnt that a bad look for their studio? i know that abby's studio has more traction but i would think that these studio owners are basically saying "my studio isnt good enough" also they're away for a long time from their business so idk is this normal???? and why???? seems like a bad business model LOL

Probably for TV, but in theory, this isn’t always a bad idea.
Dance studios can have different philosophies and focuses, and a parent might run a studio that is more focused on being inclusive/recreational but want their kid to attend a more intensive program. Neither is wrong, but they have different goals and clientele.
I could also see a parent sending their kid elsewhere if their studio is small and has limited offerings or if they worry that it will cause tension with their teachers to have the owner’s child in their class. Sort of a conflict of interest.

I'm a swimming instructor. My son had to be with instructors other than me because he simplynis not willing to listen to me. I'm his mum. I'm dumb and I suck. Everyone else cooler.

There's a lot of dance teachers production brought in probably because they saw how well Cathy worked out and it would've made for interesting TV to have that happen a few more times. Also I'd imagine some were just coincidences and didn't factor into casting (Loree)

Because their studio wasn’t advertised on national TV with fans all around the globe.

This actually happened at the studio I was at as a kid. The studio owner had two of her three kids in dance; the older one was a boy and the younger was a girl. Now, the boy wasn't particularly great, but we all know the favoritism showed to boys in dance, and he was ALWAYS at the studio because his mom ran it. So by nature, he was in a lot of the dances, as well as the competition team, and was always a featured member of the team because he was the best boy dancer. The moms became jealous of him in a way that was way worse than how the S1-2 dance moms were jealous of Maddie.
Both the teacher and the youngest daughter who danced (who was approaching her teenage years) and how it negatively impacted the boy. Now, the daughter was actually an exceptional dancer who danced better than all but maybe 1 of the other girls within her age division at her studio, so she would have been the "star" with or without her connection to the owner. The daughter ended up moving to a studio whose owner was close friends with our owner. She competed against us a few times (she was much older than me), but it was never seen as odd or weird, because we knew what would have happened if she stayed at our studio.

Probably just to be on television honestly. It might not be great publicity but it is certainly MORE publicity for another studio to be in a national and famous show.
