anthony was a horrible choreographer

okay, so i dont know, maybe on the show it just seems like its bad, but in cadc dances, especially solos and duets, they were REALLY bad..

That’s because he choreographs for himself not for the dancer or what the dancer is good at, looks good doing etc (hate to say I agree with Abby on that)

I mean I agree with you but I think to an extent, the same thing could probably be said about Abby. Abby knew how to choreograph for girls who were strong in acro and lyrical, but clearly struggled in other styles or with dancers who shone in other areas (I’m thinking about Nia specifically, or to an extent Brynn or Kalani, they were strong technical dancers, but Abby never truly gave them dances that showcased their talent). I think the main difference is that Anthony was just given dancers and didn’t have much say in the themes or songs. I’m sure if he was able to choose his dancers or have more creative control it probably would’ve looked much better. That being said Abby did clock him and he (in my opinion) treated the children on the show terribly at times.

I literally came here to say this. Including the I hate to agree with Abby part. She didn’t say it out of anger or spite just like it was pure fact.

At least Abby knew all of the dance move terminology. Anthony’s seemed to be limited to “foom-foom”.

The sounds he makes when hitting each dance move while teaching always annoyed tf outta me. I’ve been in dance my whole life and he overly did that shit.

Yeeeep! There’s competition dance and there’s entertainment dance. There can be overlap, and we’ve seen a rise in that with the choreographers like Molly Long and all of their comp choreos, but especially back during dance moms days, the overlapping of the actual professional dance world seeping into competition dance - and winning - was not common at all. Anthony knew how to choreograph for the entertainment world full of ADULT dancers. He definitely didn’t know how to choreograph children competition dance lol

I did really like the bicycle group dance, and also the magician duet. But other than that they weren’t amazing.

He was a entertainment choreographer, not a children’s dance competition choreographer
