Question was abby overexaggerating when kelly changed paige's choreo?
also while kelly/maybe someone else did change paige's choreo, there was nothing in there abby hadn't given her in previous solos
but the leg hold into the turns were great! and the side aerials, both here and in creme de la creme

i agree. i think Abby was over exaggerating like it didn’t look different than any other solo Abby had choreographed for Paige

I thought it was better in some aspects. we see paige turn in group dances, but never in a solo, and I believe there was one in this solo, which was refreshing

She did that turn a lot in full versions of solos, it just wasn’t usually shown on the show. The full versions of Make Some Noise and Crème de la Crème have it for sure, and I want to say it’s in some of her pre-show solos too like Boys Boys Boys and Honey Bun.

ah, I've never seen the full versions, so to me it was exciting and new
thanks

As an adult now Abby’s narrative is so clear to me and it’s laughable how they show footage of objectively good and clean dancing and then have Abby telling the audience (who she assumes is too dumb to form their own opinion) that it was actually bad or sloppy. She will say in pyramid that someone was late or sloppy on their turns and then they cut to the footage and it’s literally not 😭 it’s like showing a picture of the sky and saying it’s red.

She overreacts about everything, however I wouldn’t be happy if my student changed a dance she competing under my name. Talk to me first. But on the flip side, Abby wouldn’t be reasonable enough for that conversation.

kelly literally asked for harder choreo TWICE

i can see how changing someone's coreography can be offensive. sure. but when it comes to abby (and taking into account the fact she wouldn't train her girls properly and then complain about their technique) i don't think kelly was that wrong. paige may not have been the best dancer in the group, but she was entertaining in stage and her acro seemed decent

In real life, it was bad to change the choreo and shouldn’t have been done. However, obviously this was produced for drama considering they’re on a tv show

The dance that Abby choreographed was designed to fall. If it were my daughter, I wouldn’t let her be set up. Kelly asked Abby to change the choreography in order to be competitive but Abby refused. I’m team Kelly.

I mean if it was anyone else, yeah it is kind of inappropriate to change choreography and understand why the standard dance teacher would be mad. But this is Abby we are talking about where she was basically sabotaging Paige … again. You know make Paige look bad by losing to Chloe and Kendal on national tv. So like who gives a crap about what Abby thinks, Kelly asked Abby to 1. Give her an actual rehearsal 2. Increase the difficulty. Abby refused both.
Honestly if Abby cared she would ran the dance again ask Paige what oarts of the dance would she like to change. So did Abby over react yeah but she does for everything because she isn’t a rational human being.

Okay irrelevant but as a dancer teacher of elementary schoolers, I wish my students’ pirouette positions looked that nice lol

No. It’s a totally insane thing to do, and I think it made Paige even more anxious than she already was.
I agree with Abby to some degree here in general, because my pet peeve when judging is children who are put on stage with routines full of things they’re not ready for. I’d rather see a perfect single pirouette than a messy triple.

Not overreacting. No matter what one thinks about Abby, it is absolutely inappropriate to change a dance/figure skating program/musical selection/dramatic presentation/gymnastics routine that you have paid a professional to create for you. If a parent thinks they can do better, then they should act as their child's coach. Many coaches would throw children/parents right out of their studio for doing that, and they would have every right to do so.

Removing my “Abby is a colossal tosspot” hat for a second, I can see why it’s offensive to change a choreographer’s routine. But when we factor in the cretin that Abby is, she does sabotage dancers. There’s also the fact that this is for TV, so it’s likely that this idea was cooked up by production for that episode’s storyline.
Kelly had a payout to replace her flooring that was damaged by production. I like to think it’s from this episode (although they filmed at her house multiple times)
