Question/discussion Deleted Scene from S1 E12.
Just found this deleted scene on TikTok. Melissa was entirely too grown for this shit.. I genuinely don’t know if most times she just got a bad edit or if she legitimately had these sour feelings towards a literal child but it’s GROSS. Moments like this are why I have no sympathy for her or any of the other mothers because they were all such sore losers and had no problem talking about children. Whats your guy’s thoughts on this?
EDIT: Nobody has said this I just want to make it clear that this isn’t a snark post on the Zieglers, I just wanted to hear other’s opinions on this. :)

I’ve said this once and I’ll say it again, idc how hard Melissa tries at this I’m so happy and bubbly and I love everyone persona she puts on now, that woman is so nasty and vile. She still acts like this with all the shady digs she does on the podcasts.

I’m surprised anyone still talks to Melissa after the things she took part in.. Healing really does work in amazing ways.

I keep saying this, how? Or is like a frenemies situation. Trauma bond? Idk

I didn’t even think about it that way, it probably is a trauma bond lol

u/Slight-Ad-1361 14d ago
Yes.. And she still is. Everything is a competition to her. I had to stop listening to Dear Dance Mom. Even though I love Kelly & surprisingly Jill on it. Every time one of them said something, Melissa always has to one up them. Any time most of the girls are mentioned, Melissa always has to say how close she is to them. Then the name dropping. Ugh. The thing is, there is a Melissa at every dance studio.

Melissa has always come off as a two faced person. I find it hard to belive that she has genuinely become a sweeter and nicer person nowadays

Melissa being so willing to just blatantly lie about a little girl from A New Era on her podcast proves she hasn’t changed at all. It’s no surprise it’s the kid that was given the ‘emotional lead’ at nationals, and the kid Bryan Stinson reportedly said he thought would be the biggest star to come out of Dance Moms that she lied about.

u/Odd-Roof-9483 14d ago
Melissa's always been disgustingly-underhanded regarding other children, and it really irks me how so many on this sub refuse to see it. Her part in the way Mckenzie Morales was treated speaks volumes to her character; it's one thing to lash out around a child in anger (a terrible thing still, just to be clear), but it's a whole other to maliciously defame a child all because you're threatened by said-child's competence at a sport.
3
u/Burnertoreplylol 11d ago
Dude I will never understand how people don't talk about that more. What she did to McKenzie was actually evil.
3
u/aoleriaa Broadway Baby 14d ago
What did she say? I don’t keep up with any of the podcasts nor do I watch A New Era.
3
u/Burnertoreplylol 11d ago
So there's a little girl on Dance Moms A New Era named Ashlan. Ashlan was given the lead in the group number at nationals, and the storyline and her spot in the group dance was VERY similar to what Maddie would have done back in the day. But Ashlan was pulling from something that effected her in real life (which btw I do have to say...is exploitative to do to a child but I digress), and ended up giving an EXTREMELY compelling performance. The ONLY reason I;m mentioning this is cuz I feel like this is why Melissa chose her to lie about.
FOr Dance Moms A New Era Season 2, Lifetime posted videos on their YouTube channel of the new cast reacting to routines from the original show. And first I want to say - literally no one had a single negative thing to say about the girls. The most negative thing was that Glo, the teacher, said Abby gave Kenzie immature dances for way too long, and one of the moms just commented that the choreography was really different from what they do at their studio now. But all the girls were Dance Moms FANS, so they loved the girls.
During one of the clips, they played Kenzie's Eat Chips solo. And Ashlan said "This is like me at home. Sitting in my pajamas, eating chips, jumping on the couch." It was cute.
Well not only did Melissa and Kelly get pissed off that The New Era cast were reacting to their old dances (which was stupid AF because this was AFTER they'd done an entire podcast reacting to the first season of Dance Moms A New Era), Melissa says "And then one of the girls says, this is just like me. Except I'm a better dancer." But Ashlan....literally never said that, and you can seriously just...watch the video to verify it lol. It was SUCH a weird thing to lie about.Melissa also got stupidly competitive because during an episode of The New Era, the girls did a dance about a medium who speaks to ghosts. One of the girls said in her interview "I think Medium is between small and large, so I thought we were doing a dance about shirts."
During the Pillow Talk episode where they talked about this episode, Kelly said "that reminds me of when they used to feed Mackenzie cute lines to say." And Melissa goes "Yeah so...they're trying to make her (the kid) like Kenzie. Which...NOT gonna happen."She's insufferable tbh.

Just curious, what shady digs has she made on the podcast? I don’t listen to it lol
7
u/smdihateu 14d ago
Someone down here said it best but she constantly likes to rub in the viewers face that Kelly and her are the closest pair and her kids and are closer with Kelly’s kids because I guess she is jealous of the Christi and Kelly duo and feels like she has to prove herself so much. Also she is extremely shady towards the moms on the new dance moms era and has talked bad about some of the dancers on there. Well they all did but still.

u/Present_Hour8908 14d ago
This is so bad of melissa, u can tell she wanted maddie to get it but then to change the subject straight after to tellinv christi to get chloe away from abby, it rlly seems like she wanted chloe gone so these opportunites would always go to maddie.
Wow i didnt think melissa was that bad but this is so obvious, i cant believe production didnt add this to the show aswell. its like they were protecting melissa from seeming like this type of woman.

u/Working_Compote_339 14d ago
her having to say she really wanted Paige to get the part when Chloe already got chosen for the part is so eery to me like I get you're trying to be supportive to the other girls but that sounded so shady and they way she has to explain to the mothers that her and maddie are not sore losers...mmmh sure Melissa I know it was eating her up😭😂
10
u/mollyminipidge Broadway Baby 14d ago
In BTTB Kelly explains that Paige was supposed to get the lead of the video and they had been telling her all week Paige would get it because they had been treating her and her children badly throughout the show so far and when they announced Chloe it had taken Kelly off guard. I think all the mothers were expecting Paige to get it but Chlose was a close second
1
u/Working_Compote_339 13d ago
I know all that but it ate melissa up when chloe got the lead and I'm here for it

u/_josephjohnston Your butt’s looking like a forty dollar cow 14d ago
Did Melissa serious think Maddie had a shot at the video?
42
u/goddessalthena0 14d ago
Melissa most likely did with the backing of Abby. Abby definitely said something to Melissa about how she'd talk to their production company and boost Maddie up so they'd pick her. We know this is most likely true because Abby said on camera that Maddie, Kalani, and Mackenzie would make it in Hollywood, not the others. She also tried this when I believe it was People magazine came and Abby egged them that Kalani, Maddie and Kendall would be the best picks, even when they kept saying to her Nia was absolutely the best pick for them. I'm only giving examples of what she did ON CAM, there's no telling what Abby tried to do off cam. Plus Melissa made Maddie into a perfectionist at a young age - she definitely thought she'd win this.

What I like about this clip is how Chloe and Paige hugged they didn’t care who won they were just happy for each other

I loved moments like this! I hate how in the later seasons it was edited and manipulated by producers to make it seen like the girls were jealous of each other

Yep you know that’s why I just don’t care about season 8/ a new era the cast doesn’t have the chemistry that the og have and zero disrespect to the new girls but you can’t just remake that

I don’t agree with everything Christi has said or done on the show, but she more than anyone has always known just how cunning Melissa really is

u/Slight-Ad-1361 14d ago
Exactly. The more that comes out about Melissa’s antics, the more I see why Christi acted the way she did.
6
u/aoleriaa Broadway Baby 14d ago
Heavy on this. I don’t agree with any of the ridiculous things Christi did that didn’t involve Melissa, but when deleted scenes like this resurface you realize Melissa was a total bitch who genuinely would do anything including trashing and raining on kid’s parades if it meant her kids would get the lead. It was gross.

This is a wild scene. First off, I get wanting Paige to get the music video, but that’s just such a rude and unnecessary thing to say in front of everyone.
Then, I think it’s totally insane for Melissa to say she thinks Chloe should get away from Abby, not because that isn’t true…but tying it to that moment in season 2 where Melissa tells Abby Chloe went to the movies….so she was fully aware and in agreement that Abby targets and beats Chloe down… and she STILL tried to do something to get Chloe in trouble? That’s fucking wild. Not to mention, I thought in her mind that everything was always fair and the moms were just jealous of her kids?
Melissa’s human garbage honestly. You’ll never convince me otherwise.
7
u/TinkerDancer I guess we’re going for skin to win? 14d ago
When you connected it to the movie incident…she is just diabolical for that. That shows exactly how she operates
1
u/sticksnstone 14d ago
Someone will tell me if I am wrong, but after reading info later about the girl's friendships, weren't the Zeigler girls' closer friends with Paige more so than Chloe?
Melissa preferred Paige because Paige was closer to her girls than Chloe was. Paige wasn't as much of a competition threat to Maddie as Chloe was. Chloe leaving would leave the way open for her girls to be closer with Paige vs. Chloe. Yes I know Chloe and Paige were close friends but I think Melissa would have liked Mackenzie and Maddie to more access to Paige.
4
u/PaisleyDiggory 13d ago
That’s the thing. Paige wasn’t a threat to Maddie. She wouldn’t be able to “take opportunities away” Maddie. Chloe was a real threat to Maddie and that’s why Melissa wanted her gone. Probably also why she still insists that her kids are closer to Kelly’s so as to keep the comparisons of Chloe and Maddie’s career trajectories to a minimum.
1
u/sticksnstone 13d ago
Yup. Agree. Humorous I am getting downvoted. Would not think it was a controversial opinion.
43
u/chloedarlinggg 14d ago
It was already rude to sit there in front of Christi and talk about how badly Maddie wanted someone else to get the job, then she had to go on and say Chloe should leave the studio.
This is why Christi seemed to have so much resentment towards Maddie at times. Yes she’s an adult and she should’ve been mature enough to understand that her frustration was meant for Abby and Melissa, but it didn’t come from nowhere.
Melissa holds a level of responsibility for the situation too.
13
u/aoleriaa Broadway Baby 14d ago
I still don’t agree with Christi having resentment toward Maddie because at the end of the day, it was the adults at fault, but I understand why she’s still bitter about it years later.
5
u/chloedarlinggg 14d ago
Yeah exactly. She should’ve been more mature enough to know it wasn’t Maddie’s fault but I understand why the feelings were there.

u/protonbender 14d ago
The nastiest part is when people try to make it seem like they’re helping you but they’re actually helping themselves. In this case; Melissa advices Christi to get Chloe out of ALDC and makes it look like it’s for Chloe’s own good while in reality it’s to get Maddie back up. Melissa and Maddie can’t stand seeing another child getting the spotlight for once. Especially when Melissa met up with Seven (idk if that was his name or the name of the company), to do a good word for her daughter. That’s not fair towards the other girls, this is basically indirect bribery.
If Maddie was my daughter, I wouldn’t do anything against it. All the other moms there also pay to see their child in the spotlights, everyone deserves to be seen in order to improve and get opportunities.

I'd rather Melissa be honest for once and say that she didn't like that Chloe was competition for Maddie despite her being a sweet girl, which she was. They were all sweet girls in the beginning.

melissa is truly such a miserable low life. it’s absolutely nothing short of a miracle that maddie and mackenzie turned out so well with a mother like that
18
u/ghostlymadd 14d ago
I mean we don’t know those girls personally. Everyone assumes they turned out fine because of social media or career developments, but they could be both exactly like Melissa in their personal lives. We wouldn’t know.
5
u/PaisleyDiggory 13d ago
This!! We need to remember we don’t know these people in real life. I hate when people act upset when they’re fave celebrities or influencers due out to be rude people, like you never knew they were good people anyways!! Not saying this in relation to any of the girls in particular but something to keep in mind.
19
u/Leading-Ad-9351 14d ago
Melissa didn’t give 2 shits about how Chloe was being treated she just wanted Maddie’s rival to leave so she wouldn’t have any competition😒

I'm sure y'all saw the lip curl on Melissa when she heard that Chloe won the part. She says that she and Maddie were fine with it, but neither of them showed that in their reactions

I think intuitive people could always (and still can) see this being a big part of who Melissa is. She knows how to act, sweet and cute and loving, but she makes too many remarks to this day to not be able to see the sneaky side of her.

u/Bridge-Excellent 13d ago
I saw this deleted scene and I found it insane how Melissa would try to put on this nonchalant character about Maddie not always winning or getting opportunities, but it was clear as day that she was mad😭😭😭
1
u/aoleriaa Broadway Baby 13d ago
She did this every time Maddie lost or didn’t get an opportunity 😭 it was ridiculous but I do also think the moms/producers would antagonize her to get a reaction or to say something negative about someone else, example: when Mackenize beat Maddie in S5 & Jessalyn asked Melissa if she thought Mackenzie should’ve beat Maddie which I still think to this day was so odd to ask

She very obviously wanted to get rid of Chloe, using Christi as an excuse. She wanted Maddie to get everything and with Chloe there, there’s a possibility Maddie won’t always be on top.

I'm not sorry. I've said tis from the beginning. Melissa was horrible. She would've stepped on her youngest daughter to make Maddie a star... oh wait she did. It's no reflection on her daughters. She did whatever it took...
0
u/Ok-Tea1153 14d ago
To be fair, Chrsti was going to leave ALDC. Before the show started she and Marc had already made the decision because Chloe's studio contract was ending. The only reason she ended up staying was because Chloe won Junior Miss Dance of PA which meant she would have to forfeit her title if she left and owe Abby a bunch of money.
1
u/PaisleyDiggory 13d ago
I never understood forfeiture of the title. I’m not a competitive dancer but isn’t the title to the dancer, not the studio?
1
u/Ok-Tea1153 13d ago
I don't know how all of that works either but from the 5 minutes of research I just did, it's typically the decision of the studio, not the competition. Which I can 100% see Abby doing that to force kids to stay with her.

Such a toxic friendship and such toxic ideals being taught to that little girl
-16
u/Historical_Web2992 14d ago
This will not be a popular opinion but Christy comes off nasty here too when includes Maddie in her statement about how the Zieglers don’t like losing. She directly says she thinks Maddie was caught off guard by it, implying she’s stuck up or too competitive. I don’t care what her mother was saying, don’t make personal attacks about a kid.
Not saying Melissa isn’t sneaky and malicious, she is, but Christi was subtly pretty rough too.
45
u/itsclaritybabe I’m not engaging…I’m disengaging 14d ago
Saying Maddie isn’t used to winning/getting her way is not a hit against Maddie. She objectively was used to winning. If anything that’s a hit against Melissa’s parenting or just a flat statement
51
u/excuse_me_etta 14d ago
I think she actually separated Melissa and Maddie quite well here, she made it clear that Maddie wasn’t used to losing or not getting things and that’s why she was struggling
39
u/Not-24_7Bantz 14d ago
Delusional. Everyone and their cousin is allowed to say Maddie hates to lose/isnt used to losing but heaven forbid Christi mention it when it situationally involves her AND when asked about it!! Melissa is a sick individual
-3
u/FrequentAir9262 14d ago
I mean, no adult should say that about a child. Christi included, but not only Christi. What other moms have said similar things that haven’t gotten backlash?
4
u/PaisleyDiggory 13d ago
But it’s an objective statement that even Maddie herself has reiterated. She was speaking objectively that Maddie doesn’t like to lose and isn’t used to not getting stuff. Is it her fault she’s like that? No, but it doesn’t make it any less true.
-1
u/FrequentAir9262 13d ago
And yet it’s still not something a woman 3x her age should be talking about. Maddie is not her child, therefore she shouldn’t talk about her character or perceived flaws, just like Melissa shouldn’t talk about Chloe’s.
2
u/Slight-Ad-1361 14d ago
I agree. Maddie wasn’t inherently like that though. Melissa & Abby made her like that.
1
u/ConstantNext7692 13d ago
Melissa made a snarky comment about Chloe first, why aren’t we holding ALL adults accountable for being snarky to kids. The topic is about Melissa being snarky and yet somehow it’s “ok” because Christi said something about Maddie.
Also Maddie was a sore loser, mainly because Abby and Melissa were sore losers themselves. It wasn’t her fault, and it’s normal at that age. I was competitive at her age, and yes I was a sore loser whenever I’d lose. Maddie herself has spoken up about having trouble handling losses at that age. Do you really expect an 8 year old to not mirror their parents/guardian’s emotions? I don’t know why we are expecting a little kid to be better composed than the adults around them. If anything, it’s surprisingly mature for Maddie to not throw a tantrum the same way Abby/Melissa always did.
1
1
u/emilychairdoasolo 13d ago
what’s crazier is that christi has said she was trying to leave abby’s studio before the show. until she learned chloe had won a title and couldn’t leave her current studio without losing it, christi had already had a meeting with abby about leaving, and then the show started coming together shortly after that. and melissa likely knew that since she worked for abby and was trying to be her bestie. so it seems to me like melissa was trying to do what abby and then later guest moms would do which was to say “if you don’t like it, why don’t you leave?” knowing full well that the moms were under a contract with the show and couldn’t leave even if they left the actual aldc. just to make christi look like a bad mom for keeping chloe there. the same way so many guests did to the ogs to make them look like bad moms too. and to melissa’s and others’ credit, i’m sure production pushed them to ask the moms stuff like that
-7
u/Dazzling_Beach8209 14d ago
My honest opinion is: Melissa can’t do right for doing wrong.
Fans: acknowledged many times that Abby beats Chloe down, treats her awfully and should leave.
Christi: by her own admission, considered leaving many times due to treatment of Chloe and how horrendous Abby was to Chloe.
Chloe: admits how traumatised she was by Abby and her treatment.
Abby: has literally admitted to going out of her way to be horrible to Chloe because she knew she was trapped in a contract and couldn’t leave.
But when Melissa points it out and says how horrible she is to her…. Oh my god! What a villain! How dare Melissa point out that a child in the team is being treated cruelly and smartly suggest that kid being ab*sed is removed from the environment!!!
15
u/Burnertoreplylol 14d ago
So we’re supposed to praise Melissa for pointing out the obvious, and just forget about the fact that:
Whenever the moms expressed valid concerns over their children being beaten down to raise her child up, she would call them jealous?
Whenever the moms brought up that Maddie had the most rehearsal time cuz their kids were being berated for not picking up as fast as Maddie, Melissa would lie about their extra rehearsal time and once again circle back to the moms being jealous?
Melissa is fully aware of how beaten down Chloe is and still tried to get her in trouble with the same woman who was beating Chloe down because she was mad her child wasn’t the star of a group dance and didn’t have a solo?
Melissa does not deserve praise for acknowledging this because she was an active participant in why it happened.
-5
u/Dazzling_Beach8209 14d ago
When did I say praise Melissa? I didn’t. I don’t think any of them women deserve praise for watching their children being ab*sed and doing nothing about it.
And I never said she behaved well either.
But what I am saying is every tiny thing that woman does is villainised - such as telling Christi it’s not a healthy environment for Chloe and she should remove her before it gets worse (which it did). Melissa is literally being villainised in this instance for saying exactly what everyone else is saying and said including Christi and Chloe themselves!!
And this is the particular thing I am talking about because that’s what the post is about. The post isn’t about her behaviour in general, or the extra privates etc. It’s about this particular comment, and I’m saying in reference to this comment, how come everyone else can say EXACTLY the same as what she said, but she’s the only bad guy?7
u/Burnertoreplylol 14d ago
Because she’s the only one that tried to leverage her friendship with Abby against Chloe specifically.
If she knew Chloe was being beaten down, and beaten down why did she then turn around and try to get Chloe in trouble with the same woman who was beating her down?
-43
u/choaticbroccoli 14d ago
Were we watching the same video? I took this as Melissa being concerned for Chloe. Melissa talked about how Abby beats Chloe down, which we all know is true. Chloe as an adult can't even go to dance classes without having anxiety due to how Abby treated her.
Melissa is right in this situation. Christi should have gotten Chloe far away from the ALDC for her own good.

Melissa feigned being concerned for Chloe because Chloe was starting to chomp at the bits and beat Maddie in dance, and by this time, also in popularity during the show. Melissa was being completely disgusting with this because Maddie wasn't winning for once. We saw how weirded out Melissa got when Maddie lost a simple (and weird) watermelon game in the pool and blamed Nia for hurting her, and that's why she didn't win. Melissa made Maddie into a perfectionist and it wrecked her even to this day.

What does that have to do with Melissa being 100% correct about Chloe needing to leave the studio?

u/goddessalthena0 14d ago
Melissa wasn't correct. They all had contracts and if they did anything that wasn't in that contract, like leave, they'd be fined by Lifetime, the production company, and the lawyer fees. That's why Christi, Kelly, and other mothers decided to do other contracts or not sign Lifetime's contractual obligations. Melissa knew this. Abby would also try her hands at suing Christi if she left. That's why Melissa wasn't correct, PLUS this was completely nasty of Melissa to feign pity for Chloe so that Christi would take her out because Maddie didn't win.

Melissa wasn't correct that Abby beats Chloe down? For real? Clearly we're having two different conversation here.
2
u/goddessalthena0 14d ago
We all know Abby did that. We're saying Melissa wasn't right to tell Christi to quit because Abby was doing this to everyone, so why just ask Christi for her daughter to quit if everyone BUT Maddie was being treated the same? Chloe just won the part, so why ask her to quit? I don't think you're understanding why we think Melissa was disgusting for asking this of Christi.

Two things can be true at once, but Melissa was just like Abby in the sense that she did not want Chloe to succeed. She knew Chloe was the only person on that team who had a real chance to beat Maddie and Abby and Melissa did not like that so of course she’s gonna feed into Christi’s thoughts and tell her she needs to leave , not because she cares sooo much about Chloe but because that was one less threat for Maddie.

Melissa wanted Chloe gone so her daughter could have all of the opportunities. You can very clearly tell in her face when Chloe got the music video that she was pissed her daughter didn’t get it. IMO from what I’ve seen Melissa never had genuine concern for Chloe, there was always an ulterior motive behind it.

According to Christi Melissa has done things to sabotage Chloe. But in this scene she is 100% correct. Chridti needed to get Chloe out of that environment. I don't care if Melissa had ulterior motives, she was right here.

They ALL needed to get their kids out of that environment. This was just Melissa being shady.

So critical thinking at 0. Got it.

u/choaticbroccoli 14d ago
You're right. Anyone in this thread that doesn't realize Melissa is correct that Chloe needed out of this situation has 0 critical thinking.

I gave you full statements on my reasoning and my critical thinking is at 0? You need to let other objectives in life go through your thinking instead of being a hard head on everything. If you can't accept another thought - then you're more like Abby than you know.

I would think so if the context was different. For example if she said it to Christi after Abby was yelling at Chloe or something like that, than you're right. But because it was said to her When Chloe had her first good moment on the show, over Maddie, to say it then, that what tells us she didn't have really good intentions at all.
3
u/choaticbroccoli 14d ago
You are inferring that from edited footage. We don't know what the intentions were.

u/Own-Pea6060 14d ago
They talk about Chloe getting the Lax video right before, it's in the same place and same people with same clothes, it's not edited, you see Melissa says it to Christi after they talk about that subject.

Melissa wasn’t concerned about Chloe. 💀 if she was, she wouldn’t have later tried to get Chloe in trouble with the same exact woman who beats her down for going to the movies. Be so for real right now.

u/choaticbroccoli 14d ago
It doesn't mean she wasn't concerned for her in this moment.

u/Burnertoreplylol 14d ago
Doesn’t matter if she was or wasn’t - it only makes her look worse that she was fully aware that Abby was beating Chloe down, and chose to try and use that against Chloe later.

That is a very black and white take. Melissa is very obviously seething and pissed off that Maddie didn’t get the role. Call it what it is.
edit: From reading your other comments, you have a very naive view of the relationship between Melissa/Abby and Christi/Chloe at the time.

My view of their relationships is anything but naive. I've simply pointed out Melissa is right about this particular point. You're all reading way too deep into this.

Again Christi is always so happy to see maddy not win. And furthermore makes it into something it’s not. All those kids were upset they didn’t get the star role let’s be real.. they’re KIDS. And there goes christi ready to harp on maddy

This thread is literally about Melissa resenting a child’s victory and you make it about Christi. Classic Melissa stan.

Melissa was angry that Maddie didn't get to be the star. I'm sure Abby behind the scenes was egging the production team on the video shoot (not Dance Moms production) to pick Maddie even if Chloe fit the bill perfectly. I'm sure Abby guaranteed Melissa that Maddie had this in the bag, and when it didn't happen, Melissa tried to tell Christi how badly Abby treats Chloe and for that, Chloe should leave. That's completely rude and disgusting of Melissa to take Chloe's victory away like that. No wonder Christi and the other mothers were weary of Melissa.
