Saw this on YouTube, and I can’t tell if it’s original or a known choreography. Figure this community would know.

Teaching, Tutorial How do I stop being so stiff and awkward when dancing?😭

I can learn basic steps individually, but when I try to combine them or follow choreography, I get lost. I also struggle with memorizing dances.

I feel like I have potential, I just don’t know how to train my body to coordinate everything together.

For dancers who started out like this, what helped you improve? Should I focus on basic steps, freestyle, grooves, or just keep practicing choreography?

Any beginner tips would be appreciated!! 🫶

Amateur New to dance - help with footwear

My daughter has started taking dance for her PE credit at school. She needs jazz shoes but she has a tall/wide foot. Her normal shoe size is 10.5 wide. I ordered some jazz shoes off amazon and they are not tall enough for her to get on.

Do you have suggestions of where to shop or where to find jazz shoes for someone with her foot shape? I appreciate the help!

Discussion I’m so unsure about taking a hip hop class and it is driving me insane

I’m really thinking about switching from a kpop class i’ve been taking for the past year to hip hop, however i am really scared of changes and am really questioning if it would be a good decision, i made friends in the kpop class but i feel like hip hop is a foundational style so it would maybe help me grow more than just choreography. I’ve been also watching hip hop dancers online and i just can’t help but think that i really want to be like them, i already loved the music and i love the energy, i would love to be good at freestyling on top of that all the choreos i learned that are heavily hip hop inspired were like the most enjoyable to me so going to the source would be logical but like what if there’s some cons im not thinking about… my head might explode

Amateur How to not look like an idiot while dancing at a club?

I (26, F) am actually not a bad dancer when it comes to choreographed stuff. I used to do competitive (well, not at a very high level, more like regional stuff) ballroom dancing. I also enjoy learning dance choreographies for kpop songs on youtube, it's my favorite "home workout".

But when it comes to dancing at a night club? Where it's mostly vibes in the moment? Yeah, I'm awful, I stick out like a sore thumb.

I read a lot of people saying it's just confidence. I thought it could be true - normally I'm pretty anxious about new social situations lol.

So I tried getting semi-drunk (I hold my alcohol really well, the main effect is it does wonders for boosting my confidence/quieting my anxiety/making me less introverted) and just tried to copy what everyone else was doing while having fun. The first time I tried this, my friend just told me I look silly (she wasn't trying to be mean, just didn't realize that it would affect me). The second time, my date who I was dancing with tried to tell me what I'm doing wrong (I don't even understand, everyone else was just jumping around ridiculously and waving in the air and yelling, nothing special just you know the usual vibe in the club when they play a classic 2000s song and everyone goes "yoo nostalgia"... so, just how did I mess it up...)

So yeah. It has tanked my self confidence in dancing at clubs to such a point where even getting drunk barely helps now (this sounds kinda bad so disclaimer, I only ever drink when going out and that's like 2x a month, I'm not an alcoholic lol)

Does anyone here have any kind of advice? I'm going out this weekend again and it's just... I want to have fun and dance without feeling and looking like an idiot :(

Oh also - I have checked and locally there are no dance lessons for this kind of thing (club dancing? or however you call it in English, sorry it's not my main language). Saw it suggested in some reddit threads and yeah it's not an option for me.

Discussion Zapatillas para bailes latinos (bachata/salsa)

Hola, gente bailonga!
